Cazzy, I have the same bike, and don't burn any oil. I use the standard Mobil 4T that is recommended by Triumph.

On my old Speed Triple, that I rode for 100,000kms it started to burn oil when I used anything but Mobil 4T or Silkolene full synth.

Make sure you're checking the oil correctly too, it can make a difference and scare you if you forget to keep the bike level.

Finally, tappets are usually a little noisy on these bikes and so long as the usual service intervals are kept up, they should be fine.

Beware of shonk dealers who try to sell you repairs you don't need. ALWAYS get a second opinion if you believe there is an issue.
