DJR - do you have the same petrol situation over in Belgium as we have here? More or less sorted for our trip down to Hull on Saturday, worst case an extra 10L can will be strapped on the back, but we're likely to get off the ferry in Zeebrugge on Sunday close to empty, so just wanted to know what to expect??? :???:

Basically there's probably no problem, but everyone's still panic buying petrol because of rumours there will be a shortage. On top of this the fuel price protest groups are also threatening to block refineries etc, fuelling more rumours etc, etc.

All in all it means petrol stations are running out of way overpriced fuel - £1+ a litre has been seen in a few places. Must be the only thing that is more expensive in the UK than in Norway....

You're kidding!!
Our beer is cheaper, our food, clothing, housing is cheaper. Cars are WAY cheaper.
Only thing more is expensive is tobacco, and that's bad for you, anyway.

The above was a quote from the Labour party's election campaign preceeding our recent General Election...

Another myth, as far as I'm aware there is no intention of blockage, just a peaceful protest at the price of fuel.

All this panic buying is rediculous, like Archimedes said we should change our name to Moronia. Every single filling station I passed today had long queues, causing major hold ups on the roads. An emergency ambulance had to wait in the congestion on a dual carraigeway, caused by these a#ssholes.

no shortages of fuel over here m8. Price has gone up(official price about €1.37) same as over there (same as pretty much all over Europe) but we are still substantially cheaper than Holland.

There was reports of some lorry drivers not being happy and some reports in the UK press of attempted blockades over here but I have seen none and I have seen no queues at the stations. In fact it seems to be the opposite. Petrol companies are reporting a big drop in sales at the pumps over here compared with the same time last year.
