Potential issue with the Arrow muffler on 2018 Tiger 1200

There is a potential problem with the 2018 Tiger 1200 Arrow muffler. If the clamping bolt under the bike gets loose, the can will move within the carbon fibre mount and scuff the can. There is another problem if there is movement of the can. The rubber mounts that protect the swingarm can become ineffective and the swingarm can come into contact with the center stand. The rubbing of the center stand on the swingarm will cause damage.

Triumph is replacing my Arrow can under warranty.

Here is a video (not mine) that explains the issue very clearly :

Wow! Thanks so much for posting. I just picked up my Tiger 1200 XCA Saturday before last and saw your post. Went out to the garage to check my exhaust and had the exact same thing. The pipe had backed out about 1 inch, resulting in the can moving about 1/2 inch in the upper bracket. I've got the rub marks, but don't think I'll try to do anything under warranty. My panniers will be on most of the time anyway, so it won't be staring me in the face everyday. Any idea what the torque spec is on that clamp bolt?

My 18 XRT was the same. Not sure on the torque spec, but mine was not much more than finger tight to start with. I snugged it down pretty good, but didnít crank on it like a gorilla.

Thanks DrewNJ. Did you have any scuffing from the upper bracket? If so, did you reach out to your dealer to do anything about it?

No, no scuffing. Mine hadnít moved, but I was only at around 500 miles too.
