went to the big bore .. oil question

Hey all - last fall I put in the big bore 1700 kit (by libby's motorcycle in new haven), did not get a chance to ride that much yet, 600 miles so far. So I am thinking new I need to change the oil just like any new engine break-in. I called Libby's and the service manager said 'not necessary'. Now I admit I am not engine smart - but is Libby's right? Or do I need to change my oil? Thanks for the help all, jdaddios.

I absolutely would... and switch to synth after the first 500-600 mile run-in with dinojuice.

Yep... with the upgrade you essentially have a brand new motor in there, and should follow the break-in instructions for the bike... 600 miles and it is time for an oil change, then another one at the 6k mark from when you had the upgrade, etc.

That's what I thought, thanks for verifying everyone. I think I'll change the oil myself (which I do for my America), any tricks to the TB or is it straightforward?

Getting it high enough to slide a catch pan underneath. I set the swing arm on jack stands so it sits level and drains well. Also, invest in a filter wrench. Makes life so much easier.
