2011 Thunderbird Chrome Radiator Cover

Does anyone have any experience installing the chrome radiator cover? I couldn't find any installation instructions on the web. Supposed to be easy but I would like a bit more than that.

One screw holds in place, other end is held with grommet type snaps. Very easy to put on, looks like this.

....Sure looks good on the shiny black ! I have the flat black and wondering if the chrome would stick out like a sore thumb or maybe add to the overall look ?

Personally I think the stock radiator cover looks better than the chrome. I don't want to draw attention to the radiator.

Thanks guys! Yes, I debated that. To chrome or not to chrome? To me, the black radiator looks like a big hole so I ordered the chrome cover. I'll let you know how I feel about it after I get it installed. To Bondage007, I see you also went for the chrome side covers too. Looks good! That's next on my list.

Chrome is better

I am a chrome freak so the radiator cover was my first change....If I could drive the bike into a chrome plating tank I would.....

Well sometimes you have to try something to know if you will truly like it. Have fun with the install, and let us know what you think of it afterwards.

Hi Georgie - make sure you nip that bolt up properly (not TOO tight!) - I lost the bolt somewhere and my radiator shroud jumped off going over a bumpy railway crossing! Lucky I was able to stop quick and rescue it before too much damage was done, but the grinding noise freaked me out.

Hey there Lantesh, how's things in Phoenix? I agree, for my taste the black shroud looks better... It's the contrast between black and chrome that makes the Tbird look so striking I reckon; each to his own taste of course - cheers, Pat

Mine (chrome) came with a replacement horn because it's a tight fit with the original one. The replacement is whimpy and tinny and (in my opinion) inferior to the OEM. If you slightly bend the original horn mount out of the way the radiator will fit without replacing the horn.
DrPat is right, snug up the bolt carefully. If it's loose the cover is prone to rattle and you'll have a new noise to deal with - a rattling, metalic sound when you go over bumps.
I'm a sucker for chrome - belt guard is next!

DrPat, everything is fine here in Phoenix. The weather has been great the last couple of days with a high in the mid 70's, and it seems everyone who rides has been taking advantage of it. I rode a bit yesterday, but didn't get the chance today.
