OK. Color choice is personal. Appreciate some of the insight on keeping the bikes clean shared in this thread.

As for me. Well I have the storm so black is my preference. Also have a black car sitting next to it. Need to clean both.

I hear Pledge works great...

Why would you NOT want slick? Slick keeps dirt and other [email protected] from sticking to paint chrome etc. As long as you aren't using it on tires and set/grips, slick is a GOOD thing ! That said, pledge is good but maxima WSC1 is much better and they are both silicone based which is what makes them work differently than other products and gives that slickness.

I guess one of the things that also appeals to me about the silver/gray over the black -- beyond the cleaning issues discussed here and the fact that there are so many black bikes on the road -- is that, if I can't have color (e.g. blue), I at least want some contrast in the overall appearance of the bike. The black paint matches the seat which matches the tire which matches the frame...and so on, broken up only by chrome. Having that silver/gray would give me that appearance of contrast that I really like (and get from true color).

As many have mentioned already, it's definitely a matter of opinion. I suspect there are many who like and prefer a more uniform appearance.

But in the end, every Thunderbird is a beautiful bike, regardless of color.

Of course, red was left off the above "diversity shot", so let's remedy that right now:

...and for those who believe diversity begins and ends with black , there's this:

I've always loved black, and matte black to boot. Chrome just ain't my thing, and neither is bright color. Its just a Road Warrior thing with me. I like the anonymity of riding a bike, and black just kind of makes you vanish ... until you get a double take from some cager with big bug eyes.

But I understand why people might want something different to stand out from the pack. Its a personality thing - some like to stealth, some like to flash.

Last week I was at a dealership and this rather attractive young chick rides in on a totally pink Harley with apehanger bars. Don't see that every day

She was wearing a pink beanie helmet, pink jacket and pink boots, and even had pink lipstick ... and I overheard her ask if they sold pink goggles. They didn't. (shocking!)

I must admit that every head in the place was watching as she rode off ... followed by some anonymous dude on a black bike.

What if there were no hypothetical questions?
