Model year availability question

I've seen some European members list their bikes as a 2009 model. Was their a 2009 model sold in the United States? I was under the impression that the bikes sold here in the US in 2009 were actually titled as 2010 models, but then started to wonder when I saw that there actually are some 2009 bikes.

I was one of the first, taking delivery july 4 '09. Mine says 2010 on the pink slip. They've been called '09 because many like me bought them in '09. But officially and on the pink 2010 is the earliest model. I doubt theres any difference in europe.

Thanks for the info dazco. That clears up the question regarding US bikes. I'd still like to hear from our European friends as well.

On a side note I think it is rather silly that a vehicle can be sold in April 2009, as a 2010 model. Our government needs to put better regs in place regarding this.

They were "pre-orders" only. You had to pre order one to get it in '09 and unless you did you couldn't buy one till '10. Or at least that was the plan, tho some dealers ordered one for themselves. Not sure how they did that or why triumph allowed it. But it allowed me to get one because i didn't pre order. I just found one at a dealer and bought it ! Anyways, the preorder deal was that if you were one of the X number of limited pe\re orders you'd get one in mid '09. Otherwise you had to wait till the official release. As much as i wanted one i wasn't about to buy w/o seeing it up close and personal.

That's interesting. I didn't know about the pre-orders. I just thought they went on sale in the Spring of '09.
