Hesitation re-applying ghrottle

So, here it goes. My storm has a hesitation when I quickly re-apply the throttle after rolling off of it. The dealer tells me that it is popping, I know what popping is. The feeling is obviously momentary loss of power, then come explosions under the seat, not cool. anyone had this issue? How do I approach the dealer regarding this matter. Without them telling me to pound sand?

Glad to hear i wasn't the only one that felt a big power increase. I had done the 12 minute tune a few other times, but this was the only time it ever made a difference in any way let alone power. My believe is that it will give results like that if the bike isn't adapted well to begin with. So you aren't actually gaining more power, just restoring power that was lost somehow. In my case from swapping tunes and running without sensors on a custom tune, pulling of the seat duct, etc. So somewhere in there i ended up with a bad adaption that never really rectified itself in the time allotted.

Dazco, I believe that was the case, when I first noticed the hesitation it also felt a bit rough but being under 500 miles, then, I figured it would get better as I ride more. I have also changed my riding habits a bit. I blip the throttle quite a bit.

Do you have TORs or is it 100% stock? i ask because they run like absolute cr@p with TORs if the bike doesn't have the proper tune loaded. If you do have tors, make sure you confirm that you have the proper tune, which would be the 20310 tune. If you ask the dealer who knows if he will be honest with you. But with tuneecu and a cable to connect your PC and bike you can see what tune it is running. If you have stock pipes, disregard what i said and continue riding. :D

Yes. But i have questioned what the differences are if any between automatic adaption, IE: letting the ECU adapt as you ride, and manual adaption, IE: 12 minute tune. When i loaded the map i'm using now after having been using a custom map for months, i had a minor starting issue so i loaded it a second time in hopes that would help the starting issue then did the 12 MT. I probably rode 300 miles the first time i loaded it and then after loading it the second time and doing the 12MT it ran worlds better. So the question is, if it didn't adapt in 300 miles then i question whether the automatic adaption does as much as the manual way. I have asked about this on several forums and no one has answered.

Tuneecu is a free software which is similar to tuneboy. That won't help much if you don't know what tuneboy is, so here goes. You download the free app and get the proper cable (explained on the tuneecu site) and you can connect the bike to a laptop. Or for that matter any PC that'll run it thats close enough to the bike to attach the cable. It is similar to what triumph dealers use to test and adjust many things in the bike's ECU (computer) such as adjusting throttle body balance, adjust TPS, check error codes to see whats wrong when your bike's engine malfunction light goes on. And several more things. You can also use it to load different tunes(maps) and adjust the mapping....fuel, timing, etc. Not something your advized to do without a pro tuner on a dyno. But loading tunes if ok to do as long as you know the tune you load is ok for your bike.

It plugs into a connector under the left side cover. You'll see it clipped onto the frame with a rubber cover over it. The tuneecu site explains evrything and you can download the app there and they even host all the standard triumph tunes. It also explains what the PC needs. As far as i know it will run on vista and XP, but not sure about 7. You also need a newer version of net framework which is easy to find and download from google. One thing to note....if ou do this, the cable needs a driver installed on the PC because it has a device in one of the plugs that requires it. But do NOT use the driver that comes on the CD that comes with the cable. The tuneecu site will point you to where to download the proper driver for it. And finally, here at RAT we have a tuning forum where you can get answers, and even one of the guys that has something to do with the app's development answers questions there. It's here... http://www.triumphrat.net/ecm-and-fi-tuning-help-tips-and-tricks/

And heres the tuneecu site... http://www.tuneecu.com/ click the bit flag at the bottom.

By the way, i have no association what so ever with the guy that wrote tuneecu, but just a note to those who use it...theres a donate button on his page. If you use tuneecu, consider donating. This guy gave up a app that is similar to the $500 tuneboy for free ! Even if everyone that uses it just donated 10 or 20 bucks it would reward him for his efforts greatly. The donate button however brings you to a paypal page in his language. I emailed him amd told him that and if i recall he sent me a link to do it in english. been a while so i don't recall exactly, but i think that was the case.
