Glue for rubber tank pads

Anyone know offhand what sort of glue should be used to stick rubber tank protector pads/ kneepads and the like to a tank? I just don't want to try some horrible goo that dissolves the paint underneath or something like that - thanks

I tried a few things. Adhesive that came on them......nope. Silicone.........nope. Mesh carpet tape.......better.......then nope.......it was fine when cool, but as soon as it warmed up they started coming loose.

Finally I tried this

Suckers haven't budged a bit. The tape is just a little thicker than I would like, but not noticeable at all. I colored the top edge black with a sharpy before I stuck them to the bike. I just installed it along the edges of the pads and then trimmed where it stuck passed the edge. I then filled in the middle with some pieces. Worked great!

Thanks for that Wolf! I'll look for some of that stuff or similar in the auto shops and see how it goes - cheers, Pat
