stick a high flow airfilter and tors on the machine and u have more top end too. Im not too bothered about getting to 100 faster than another bike really 00-80 will do me or indeed 95 as they said in the report is more than adiquate on UK roads where you can only go 70mph anyway.

Nice find to help get over the MCN report hehehe

Did anybody else catch the mistake saying the Storm has a 5-speed gearbox?

The bike in the comparison had shorty TORS, not sure about the filter. I would have thought with those it would have faired better in the actual numbers..

I noticed the "5 speed" error. Also that it had the short TOR's on. Also noticed that both the Triumph and the Victory had some of the slowest quarter mile times I've seen yet in a mag. (well, to be honest, have never seen a Storms numbers before) I've seen the Hammer in the low 12's before, just behind the Rod. But the hp/torque numbers look on par with other magazines.

Gotta say though, as a Vic rider since '99, if I were getting a new bike today, it'd be a Triumph.

oh I missed the tor bit . Even so I still think the TBird holds up well against power cruisers . Especially as the TBird (1700) or indeed the 1600 version are not power cruisers but a hybred machine built to do lots of stuff well .

I still say workable power is more important than straight line burn . Ill take lots of power in the road usable area thanks the others can play on the drag strip it makes little difference to me.

We also still don't know if it has the same cams as the BB kit. If not that could be part of it. Some idiot at another forum has been moaning like the irritating pest he is about my saying this and mentioning that I got that idea from one source when actually it was a second source that made me mention it and also makes it infinitely more likely. I wonder also....if the Triumph had tors, did any of the other bikes have off roads or any other mods. You gotta wonder what the manufacturers send to the magazines for reviews. After all, Triumph sent it with TORs which is not fair. So who knows how fair the shootout really is. They could send in ringers with a BB kit or cams etc etc and who would know.

The most important results of the test for me aren't the performance numbers, but the fact that a majority of the testers preferred the Storm over the other bikes.

These guys have probably road a ton of bikes, and they just enjoyed riding the storm over all the others. Those findings alone would have me purchasing a storm bar none.

Well I did buy one, and I have no regrets!

Wonder if they took the rubber air filter seam off hehehehe. That should give them another 0.5 second off the 1/4 mile hehehe

New question here. This is the second time I've seen a magazine test a short piped Storm. I've seen one at the dealer, it had long pipes. However, someone had written in to the magazine, and mentioned the shorty's, and the answer (from Triumph) was that the Storm COMES with short mufflers. How bout it all you Storm owners??
