For all you ole farts (boomers) like me- What was the 1st bike you had that REALLY turned you on?? My 1st bike was a Triumph, but they were some what soso then. The 1st that really got my juices flowin was a Honda 305 Scrambler- strait pipes w/ snuffer nuts. I guess what comes around- my last bike is a Triumph. I think I am in your same age group...my most memorable bikes were 68 BSA 441 Victor, 69 Moto Guzzi V7, Currently I still get impressed when I ride my VTR1000 Honda Superhawk since it has so much low end torque and top speed but my favorite bike, the one I ride the most is my new Thruxton...even my teenage son likes it. I like having two bikes so he can ride with me sometimes and we trade off. The Triumph is the smoothest shifting bike I have ever ridin and in my opinion looks the best of any bike I have had... Read the ad it is funny how they bragged that it had 50 HP but it was alot for me and I rode it from California to Chicago two up and back again...almost funny to read the ad now.

How about my 1974 Norton Commando Interstate (right-footed shift). I purchased it in 1976, though this photo was taken in '81. The split leather jacket and snazzy luggage are a little out of date, but I still like the gold-leaf and pinstriped graphic on the tank. Good times....

1964 BSA 650 Spitfire Scrambler, at least that was the info on the registration, although it was powered by an A10 engine with separate transmission. Rode her from Charleston WV to Brownsville, Texas in August, 1966. That was a ride to remember, and one which makes it impossible to forget the bike.

4 speed tranny - one up and 3 down, which made for lots of fun when I swapped bikes with a Triumph-riding buddy with 1 down and 3 up!

Sorry, no pix of this bike .... lost in space!

My 6th bike at 18 was a 1974 Bultaco 250 Pursang. That bike was scary fast! I got a 75 Husky 250 CR the next year. But the bike i loved the best was the 74 Triumph Trident I got at 21. Wish I had all 3 of em now... :hammer:

Ah the Bultaco Pursang...what a beautiful motorcycle but with all the fiberglass even in the fenders it just screamed to be broken, which it did...the gear box even blew on mine...
that was a beautiful looking motorcycle...the husky was too The exhaust pipes in those days were ear shattering as well no mufflers back then at all...
my most memorable dirt bike was a MAICO

I've had about 10 bikes over the years including a Bonneville America. All of them have been used as commuters rather than a bike just for pleasure rides. I LIKED riding them but they were no different than any other mode of transport to me, went from A to B and then got parked until I needed them again.

I now have a Speedmaster, and she is the only one I have ever just stood and stared at, and I mean stare as in admire. I just can't get enough time with it.....

 I bet that was a beautiful bike.

I didn't know a darn thing about motorcycles when my Grandfather left me his, so this is the first bike that spoke to me. It had a lot to say, too. I still have it, although my uncle has temporary custody.

I've done a lot to it; my Grandfather had a big fairing and some hard bags on it, and an 4-1 exhaust. I actually found the factory 4-4 exhaust, in pretty darn good shape, so I snapped that up and put it back on.

The first bike I've owned which really turned me on was actually my second bike which is still in my possession, my 1972 Honda CL 450 Scrambler.

Check out that OEM sissy bar on that baby :-D

The first ever ride was on the back of a 1946 Salisbury motor scooter. We crashed when the brake cable broke. I was 13.

First owned and ridden by me was a 196? very used Triumph Trophy. Itty bitty bike, lots of fun when it ran.

Man, thats a hard one. The first that really turned me on was a friends bike. Like shorty, a honda 450 scrambler. I was shocked when i rode it the first time after only having ridden my first bike, a honda 160. I guess the first one that really turned me on that i owned was a yamaha 350. The front end came up as a shifted into second when i test rode it (used, private party) and at that moment i turned around so i could quickly get back to the owner and give him the cash.

But the first bike i had that REALLY turned me on more than any other was many bikes later and was a new 1977 (last year they made em) Suzuki GT750 "water buffalo". I'd already had about 5 or 6 years of drooling over them by the time i got it, so i was seriously stoked in a way there are no words for. W/O a doubt the most excited i have ever been about a bike. I never wanted a bike so bad in my life as that one. To this day i absolutly love the entire lineup of the 70's suzuki 2 stroke street bikes, both the triples and twins. Just something about them that strikes a chord with me.

I ALWAYS wanted a mid 70's Guzzi Californian.... Mind you, I also had a Kawasaki Z900, and later a Z1000. Truly awesome 70s muscle bikes. I almost bought a new Califonian EZ Evolutzione but went for the T100 instead.

I loved my old Suzuki triples, GT380/550/750.

That and the Triumph Hurricane. Ohhhh! now that was a sexy bike.

Yup. I will setlle for a Hurricane and a Californian.

I started on a Norton ES2 field bike and did the usual 50cc stuff and a honda CB125 when I was at colege, but the first one to really light my fire was one of these;

It wheelied in three gears and was a really demented piece of kit for a teenager, I thought it was great and would love another. By the way its a 1972/3 YDS7, the bike before the RD's all the fun with half the brakes. :-D :-D
