It gets turned off by the wind. Its been back on since about 4pm with a couple small outages since, but it sure is nice to be back in the game. :-D It went out before CSI on Thursday and really put a damper on the late Christmas rush. The wind pushed one of the neighbors trees over, onto my roof,no damage, blew the roofing off my fiberglassing shed, blew my new carport across the yard and half over the other neighbors fence, bent up pretty bad,so had to be shortened and relocated, but its all good now.We have 2 generators on my work truck [1,5k] so we had lights and heat and kept the freezers cold. And while sitting on the porch this morning, drinking the coffee, got a sweet light show and real show of power. :-D

Awesome picture! We had a big power outage here in the St.Louis area last week due to an ice storm. Didn't get to far below freezing which helped but still down into the low 40's in the house for a few days. Got a generator now. Pick it up the day we got our power back!! Got it unpacked, gassed up, started it up, plugged in a saw, it works, and put it away. I'm ready next time. Now this weekend it's pushing 70 deg! Got to get a ride in.

Just a reminder to put your generator on a preventive maintenance program. My parents and brother live in a rural area near New Orleans. Their farm was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. They were out of power for 4 weeks and for the first two weeks had to make due with an old 5Kw Coleman generator. Because of poor maintenance, it was all we could do to keep this thing running. The same day that my brother found a big commercial electric start diesel unit, the poor old Coleman blew the sparkplug right out of the head. As stated above, the electricity isn't absolutely essential. However, it sure made pulling water up from the well a great deal easier...

:-D When my skirt gets back from the cleaners,I`ll pass your observations on to my disabled wife, the past due pregnant girl who slept in our spare bedroom and the blind stroke victim from next door who kept me up all night regaling me with stories of submarine duty.Of course, his skirt is at the cleaners also. BTW,I have a NEW neighbor named Colin who made his appearance yesterday morning.8lbs,C-section. Have a nice utility free day.

I have family in Auburn and they are expecting to be out of power for a couple of days more... They too have a gen-set system so heaters, fridges etc contiue to do their thing. Were I grew up having a back up power source was must as we were remote at times, dad still had to go to work, mom still had to take care of the house.

Hope all is well up there, seems like you folks keep good spirits over things such as this. The picture, makes you remember the bigger pictures in your life.

Thanks for sharing it.

Steve,

Glad to hear everything is almost back to normal. :-D I too have a generator that really comes in handy. I learned long ago that no water shuts down modern houses quicker than anything. :-D

Thanks Larry, and thanks to the rest of you too. It IS back to normal now. Stevent lives right at the base of the Cascade range foothills. They get wind much stronger than ours, but haven`t heard much about that area. Same with Copper and Rempke, near the foothills to the north. Again,no news from that area. The generators are handy to have, thats for sure. I thought it was exciting and fun, kinda like camping, but then the reality sets in and you have to take care of things. All was not lost this weekend though,I did start on my new hooligan exhaust system.

:-D

Jeff, its an old CB450 parts bike.I`ve used the fenders, seat, tank [that cowl],toolbox etc and its giving up its batterybox real soon for mods in a new airbox elimination for the Bonnie. I`m gonna wrap these headers because of clearance/heat issues,so not sure how they will look.

Real men don't have to tell others they they are not real men because they understand the value of esteeming others higher than themselves.
[/quote]

the species has successfully evolved over time, and electricity is but a recent addition. All the natural world is survival of the fittest by natural selection ...all but man...who perceives himself as God and creates the world in his own image. Man goes from dominant species to PC by enslaving these great big brains allowing the weak to dominate thru guilt of conscience and professing to control life after death (gotta give them Eqyptians credit).

PC is the attempt to redirect righteous blame of previous colonial empirialism and commerce practices to the innocent individual...to wit...one may disallow the use of a word...let's say it begins with the letter "N"...and anyone who utters it is a hate criminal by law...the thinking person would immediately understand the word itself has no power...the power in it is the result of someone else's previous actions and greed. The guilty go free, the innocent suffer the consequenses.

this little post will pass and long be forgotten, but I suspect the laws of natural selection will continue to be in effect long after the last victim mentality has run it's course.

esteem for others as higher than self is either a slave mentality born of abuse, or a fashion statement of hiding behind a phoney religion. The higher evolution is to first slay those personal dragons of ego and welfare dependance and develop love and respect for oneself...then do unto others as you deserve to be treated.

"God" intended neither slavery nor falsehood...and it's very easy to discern who is, and who ain't.

has nothing to do with elevating others past you...it's more "being it" first, then directing same self outwardly...this is how some kids turn out right, and others become crack hos and junkies. There are good parents...and not so good. The better parent passes on the example by first "being"...it's not in any book...nor is parenthood by virtue of exchanging bodily fluids alone...but by self evaluation and personal self growth.

since the species and electricity are recent bed partners, my statement stands as written.

if that's too heavy fo ya..just see the humor intended in it originally...casue I ain't gonna get much farther into it here.

my apologies to the fragile and misguided.
