Hello All,

New here, so will review the past few weeks, rather than just today! :)
My toy is also my daily ride. Spooned new Pirelli Sport Demons on and have found them to be gumball sticky. Hope they last, but never really cared on longevity as long as they grip. Retorqued the head, and adjusted the valves. Get to snug the exhaust back up once more this evening. Need to gather the stuff for an oil and filter change next. Not sure if anyone is interested, but modifed a Honda filter for installation inside the OIF downtube. Been working well so far, but keeping an eye in case I need to make modifications.

Agreed on the cornering grip on the Pirelli's. 2k mi so far. It was 100F in Fort Fun today, so we rode up to Estes Park thru Glen Haven. It was much more comfortable, mid 70's. We cruised around the perimeter streets and ate downtown at Ed's Cantina, Yummm. Had a cold malted beverage. AHHH Rob: I'm loving your seat.
Over the bike on the left: Mt Meerer 13,911ft,on the right: Long's Peak 14,2xx Bob

Snugged the exhaust back up, much better! Idles rock steady once again, and no more snapping on trailing throttle. Also replaced nuts that jumped ship from the coil tray. Rained for the 30 minute ride home from work today, not bad, but brought out all the typical insanity. New rubber still stuck well, even with the lovely road slime coming up. As always, provides wonderfull incentive to be smoooottthhhh!

Adjusted the carbs and throttle cable. My '79 Bonnie ticks over at just under 1,000 rpm and has a nice clean transition when the throttle is openned. She starts on the first kick and runs like the sweetheart that she is.:):)

Gave the bike all new fuel lines, new filters, hose clamps, took the Mikuni's apart, gave them a good cleaning, started completely from scratch, reset the cables, reset the throttle stop screws, turned the air/fuel screws in - then out 1 1/4 turn each, it was showing soot on the plugs before, added new plugs to get a proper reading, and so far so good, runs really good, and I haven't tuned in the carb's yet.
Read the numbers on the main jets (250), as I need to get the next two or three sizes up to take care of the top end.

Went to a classic car and bike event 26 miles out of town yesterday on my '76 T140V. Ran sweet as a nut all the way there and received lots of positive comments as she stood on display for the afternoon.

Time to go home....started first kick and off I went. A mile or so later....lost all power and coasted into a filling station. Would not start again. Plugs bone dry, so suspected fuel starvation. Spark OK and both ticklers producing plenty of fuel and tank cap breather OK. Eventually called out AA breakdown man to have the bike transported home. He turned up within 30 minutes...checked for a spark..asked me to kick her over and guess what? Yep - started right up. He followed me all the way home to make sure everthing was OK. Now that's what I call service!

Not sure what the problem was. Can't see it being a blocked jet, otherwise she would just have run rough.

Sounds like a form of Vapor Lock you see in automobiles. Happens on hot days and yes can be puzzling as all heck.

I hear ya that was just my first best guess.

Hmmm. Wasn't exactly hot - probably around 20 degrees. I would have expected it to have started again within a few minutes.

Not with my Triumph but related...had a chance to drop by Morries in Ringwood IL..had heard about it for years...words fail me...their floor is a dream come true...Triumphs, BSAs, a Vincent...just to name a few. He has fair prices and lots of parts..I bought a T140 Gas tank to use a a daily user instead of my seamed T120 tank....you owe it to yourself to stop and see this pace someday....
