Phoned and sorted insurance this morning

My car was in the same place for MOT this morning , so when I called to see if it was ready I asked them when I could bring the bonnie in ?.
"Now" was the reply ,,,
so we made the MOT appointment (in UK you can only, legally, ride an untaxed bike if you have an appointment for MOT)
I gave her a check over , tried all the switches and lights ,put a gallon of juice in , fired-up and headed off . . .

Beautiful day , bike running great , going for first test in 4 years . . . after taking the 'scenic-route' to the place ;), I left my bike, helmet and jacket with them and took my car home , having passed its MOT only needing a trackrod thingy :)

I then walked the worried-walk back to see how the bike got on ...
Passed !!! , the tester said he'd to adjust the headlight and noted that , but otherwise perfect :D:D:D

Took the scenic route home again ;) Just need to sort roadtax now :(

I'm chuffed !,
Ally
It's a great feeling Ally. Enjoy your 'bike and the good weather! Must get mine out now!!

rumpa bumpa

well, put in a 1/2 gallon of fresh petrol. taps on, tickle the (single) carb, couple of kicks to free the clutch plates, ignition on plus choke and she starts 3rd kick...not bad for an engine that's been dormant since the end of October. 60 seconds or so to warm up, choke off and she sits there going "rumpa bumpa".
It makes me smile...now, I need an MOT cetificate and a tax disc!!

I changed out the original side covers on my '77 T140V for retro ones and fitted pancake filters. It can all be easily reverted back if required.

I bought it with the chromed back panels, which were a bit pitted and the plastic covers took a LOT of fettling to look good.

The left hand retro fibre glass replacement needed a little trimming to fit around the seat hinge and chain guard. I got them painted black and laquered when the tank was done.

BEFORE....

AFTER...

CLOSE UP....

Sam, your Bonnie just keeps getting better and better...looks fantastic. I notice you've put on white indicator lenses....where did you source these?

One of my biking buddies rides a BMW R1150 GS and another one has a BMW K75S. Both nice 'bikes, well maintained. Over the last 2 weeks I've been out ont he back roads with both (summer's here at last). I've been riding my TR7 Tiger 750. Without any prompting, both have commented that the old Triumph actually romps away from them at junctions if they shift up at 4.5k rpm (as I do) up to 55/60mph. It's all about light weight a slick gearbox and lots of TORQUE!!

Whatever you ride, ride safe and ENJOY!!

Thanks Rath. The new chrome tank solved my seemingly endless string of leaky used tanks that I was experiencing. Glad to see you kept your great bike. Hope all is well. Cheers from Canada!;)
Thanks for the good wishes buddy...I'm awaiting bypass surgery for an aneurysm in my right leg (yes, the one I kickstart with!) which has restricted me a bit but it hasn't stopped me using the 'bike this year. Hope you're not in line for the hurricane there? Take care
