Koni production continues under the name "IKON" in Australia. I recently bought a pair for my Guzzi SP (Identical to the old Koni "dial a ride" shocks). Same excellent quality, not cheap, but worth it.
Why is it everthing from Oz costs so much, the Trispark ignition is more than double the cost of a Boyer and almost double as much as the others? As soon as I have the extra cash I`ll be getting a Trispark,I`m desperate to know if they are as good as some say.

Firstly, Australia is often referred to as the "lucky country".

When economic times are hard, we dig another hole in the ground (minerals), and all is well. Subsequently we have learned to live beyond our means, and will not work for a reasonable wage. Therefore anything made here will not be cheap. That's the sum of it.

Save yourself some money and buy a Pazon EI unit from NZ. RR
What do you know about the Trispark that you`re not telling?

Fess up!

I have tri-spark on my Trident and am very happy with it. I inquired about the rev-limiter model for my TR7, but those are made for racing only. I suppose that would include an advance curve appropriate for racing but not street riding. I think Tri-spark is on the leading edge of technology, but all the others now have the idle-calming feature too. Bob
How do you describe the idle-calming feature,I`ve read that users report a better idle with this system?

After a week of the Flu I got my `73 chainguard brazed back together in preparation for paint tomorrow. Also sandblasted the metal portion of the taillight assembly in prep. for paint.

It`s amazing how much damage a thrown chain can do to a sheet metal chainguard.

Wow, that sounds terrible. Do you know why it happened?
Did it pile up in the primary or what? I never thought about that.
We`re talking about damage caused by some PO and considering the bike was bought at a rolling basketcase price I`m not complaining.Having set the record straight I can honestly say that it is inconceivable to me that anyone other than a completely braindead moron could let a drivechain get worn and loose enough to climb off the rear sprocket, mutilate the chainguard, chew partially through the brake backing plate, break off the brake lever grease nipple and bend the oil sump as if hit by a sledgehammer!

Today I returned the, now nicely polished by hand ,primary cover to my `73 TR7.It just makes the bike look so good I can hardly take my eyes off it!The installation was without gasket, sealant only,so I`ll be interested to see how it works out.

Today the timing cover on the `73 got the hand polish treatment and just to make it all the more enjoyable I did it on the motor,in the bike,on the ground,I just love a challenge! After that bit of play I decided to fix the threads on one of the carb manifold studs, this time off the motor and on the bench. However not to waste an opportunity to do some more handwork I gave the manifold a shine as well just for good measure.

Well...drat....darn...and a few other unprintables....she started pretty easy, clutch worked fine, but NO GEARS. Shifting up from first...nothing....mine has the leaf spring plunger, and I wrestled with it for about a week.. new springs and plungers......thought it was OK....oh well - back to the shop.

I rode about 2 miles in 1st, came back.
What, no video?

Today I reassembled the freshly painted Lucas horn and horn mount on the `73.There is simply nothing better looking than fresh black paint on all the bits and pieces.Tomorrow I start to fab the new muffler mount plates.

Thanks for the offer Snakeoil but I`m mounting a set of "Torpedos",you know, those really long pipes they put on the later 750s,the ones that go almost as far as the back of the rear wheel.I got such a smokin deal on them that I can use them until I find something better.

Hey, Have you been peeking over my shoulder? I'm mounting my exhaust sytem today to. I was going to wait for the first start up, but after watching Kevin's video I just couldn't wait. :)
Do you have those "Torpedos" on your bike Ohio, if so do you think you could show me a picture of the mounting brackets, maybe even a couple of dimensions?

I can fab them from scratch but if I could see what the originals look like I`d be happier.

Weather spring-like at last..18deg C today. Planning to meet up with two Norton Commando mounted mates on Saturday for the first "run" of the year. Felt great to be on the Triumph again this evening going to the test centre....
