First, I have to say, Garioch, that you are the first person I've encounter to use the word "decant" in reference to a fuel tank. Did you have a white napkin over your forearm at the time and a gold chain with a small cup around your neck?
I'm happy to be able to post to this thread again. Yesterday, I took my very dusty T140V for a nice spin thru the Helderbergs. I live at the foot of the mountains so it's a nice climb on twisty roads and then lots more twisties once you are up on top. Locally, we call the area, "The Hill". No traffic. Great road surfaces. Nice scenery. Great ride!
I had forgotten how well this bike pulls, having been riding my A65C and modern HD for the past month push the memory of the Triumph to the back of my alleged brain. Dunstalls continue to put a smile on my face and the bike flicks like a dirt bike.
My only complaint is that damn seat. I know there is foam under the cover, because I rebuilt a portion under the rider's area with new rebond foam. But when I'm on it, I'd be willing to bet it was solid wood under the stock cover. Of all my bikes, included my little S90, this is the worst seat of the bunch. After doing a short 40 mile jaunt thru the mountains, I put the T140 away and went for a spin on my Honda 305 Scrambler and my sore butt was quite happy on that stock saddle. No pain at all. So, something has to be done with that Triumph seat. The new foam I put in made it better. But to put it in perspective, it just sucks less now.
Anyone have any good luck with new foam. I do need a new cover so maybe I'll rebuild the entire seat. But I hate to find that it is still the equivalent of a highschool bleecher when it is done.
regards,
Rob
