Installed a Tri-spark system on my T140e and strobed it to correct timing. OMG what a difference. It idles smoothly lower than ever and ignition is perfect all over the range. I have been fidling around with my carbs all spring trying to get a smooth response over the rev range and after replacing the Rita all problems are gone.

Well, after finding some time to wiggle some wires it turns out to be a broken black wire to the coil. Thank you guys and gals at Town Moto for helping out with the phone when I needed it. :wave
Well, as it turns out mine enjoyed a ride home on a truck this past Saturday as well. At first inspection on site I found a broken wire, which unfortunately for me was a light circuit. The real culprit turned out to be a shorted Zener.

It all occurred after my co-rider led me over some of the worst corrugated gravel road I've ever encounted on the old tart. No wonder she stopped in protest. RR :laugh2::laugh2:

They can be quite stubborn at times. I know. I have been trained to comply over the years as opposing proved quite futile. :frown2:

Good to read your posts again, RR. This forum is lacking without your wit.

What I did today on this fine cool Spring day? Well, I skipped lunch and rode through the streets for as long as my short 50 minute lunch "hour" allowed.

I went to Forks in gusting winds ( to 50 km/h ) using mainly Kennedy and Mississauga Rd to get there and coming back with Hurontario and Kennedy. No bikes at all at normally very busy Belfountain cafe, during our coffee some BMW rider showed up on a new R800 bike.
Coming there was difficult, but coming back sweet with wind in our backs and no rain for the moment.

New 7.5 wt Silkolene racing fork oil. This liquid is bright purple and a race oil is supposed to prevent any foaming if i go scrambling ! .Used my giant syringe again for filling and accurate quantity. Looking back on my service history, it was 5 years since the last time i changed the fork oil. Where did that 5 years go ? This job involves removing the handle bar P bolts to get the fork top nut off. I use a klng Dick adjustable spanner for the top nut as these old tools have no play at the jaws to round off the edges. WW2 issue for Military vehicle use.

I just move handlebar sideways to get access to top caps and later to top nuts, the top of the front end is so cluttered with instruments, hoses and cables I don't even want to get to the nuts holding a handlebar. This year changed my oil to 5w, got rid of the orings and bought very expensive rings from LP Williams to put in their place. Front end got much nicer and softer was horrid before with orings sticking terribly in the stanchions and hoping front wheel.
A new rim, spokes and tire made front wheel track properly again.

Having trouble adjusting the primary chain on my '73 Bonneville, so removed the primary chain cover. Looks like the adjuster is on its limit, so will need to replace the primary chain. The bike has what I believe to be original 25,000 miles, not very impressive for a sturdy triplex primary drive....

Looking to get my hands on a proper Renolds replacement chain, but having to remove the clutch and alternator to get the new chain on is a pain! LP Williams are quoting about 70 Pounds for a Regina brand - anybody tried one of these?

The SRM clutch plate and 7-plate clutch has been great

Took the Bonnie out for a great 50+ mile ride in the country twisties on the weekend - old faithful, didn't miss a beat, running smoothly & strong.....no bugs in the teeth from my grinning tho........was wearing my FF helmet.......

Oh - met some new-to-me Triumph addicts near me on Sat. who just had to come see the stable, and guy from Ft. Lauderdale freaked out at my 3 Trumpies - his dad had owned a Trident, he an old Bonnie, loved the T100C the most.......wanted to buy the Trident - "not for sale" - "but if you want I will show you a 1-kick start after it sitting for about 40 days....." "Please?" As usual, the T150V came through, making us all smile........

Big vintage bike show this Saturday in Richmond.....best detailer in VA (national reputation) is a friend & told me he will detail my Trumpies for free for any competition bike show - just to get his name into the bike community......

Here's the show:

Went for a 40 mile ride around the Devon lanes and villages before returning to Exmouth and a ride to the end of the seafront. The village is thatched houses at Kilmington. Many of the village dwellings are built in mud and straw and around 400 years old. Nice warm day and the bike then stopped at a junction with a blown fuse. The speedo lampholder fell apart.

wet

We rode up Rist Canyon into the clouds, then down to the Mishawaka Inn for breakfast. We rode back to Ft Collins in a downpour. The 66TR6 never missed a lick in the rain. I'll lube the chain and cables a give it a wipe down. Bob
