On my 73 TR7, I de-uglied the spade connectors on the tympanium regulator/rectifier. The electical tape I used years ago was unraveling. 3/8 shrink tubing won't quite fit over the female spade insulation and 1/2 won't shrink enough. I inserted needle nose pliers and expanded one end of a piece of tubing, slid it on and shrunk it with my heat gun.

With a couple of days of warmer weather, I took both 73 TR7's on successful test rides. One had a broken gear tooth (5 speed)

that jammed the transmission and the other had an intermittent short (blew the fuse near my house and rolled it home). I did not dress warmly enough so the Mercedes SL got a few miles with the heater on.
