Classic License Plate Frame On A Classic Triumph
My Brit buddy/mechanic had one of these Bud Ekins license plate frames left over from his days in Cali... Although this T120R was purchased at Big D Cycles, I think this is a nice touch...

Finally a break in the weather and got the last bits of daytona topcoated.Dust is a pain but its too bad at least she won't continue rusting away

This is my 71 Tiger.I just put in a Boyer EI after finding out the AAU was from a BSA(rotates opposite direction)So far I have rebuilt the forks,brakes,sprockets and drive chain,rear main seal,Clutch(center hub,basket,plates and primary chain)Carb and pancakefilter,sidecovers and 60`s style exhaust pipes and aTympanium rectifier.I made a solo seat bracket to give it a different look.No cutting chopping or drilling of frame,so it can be put back to stock if need be.

Great look. Where did you get the side panels? I am thinking of changing my T120's look to similar.

·Yeah,I havn`t decided what to do there yet.I left it on until I take the photos for The DMV over here to get antique plates,then it is only one time registration fee.

I rode my Bitsa to the vet to pick up some preventative medicine for my dog. Made for a decent ride. Parked it to work on the '68' T120. I swapped out the Tympanium Reg/Rect I've been running for a Sparx unit. The Tympanium had apparently sprung a leak as the battery would go down after sitting a few days. I checked with an ammeter in place of the fuse and saw a small current draw with the key off. I then had to give the T120 a shake down ride to prove the new Sparx was working.

Mothers day Brit bike ride
I rode my '72 TR6 up the Poudre canyon with my buddy Ed and his '62 Norton Atlas. 56 miles uphill, 5000+ ft elevation gain. The bikes ran great and we both got 63 mpg (56 miles back downhill doesn't use much gas). The pavement was poor and traffic was heavier in the lower canyon. Once we got past Rustic, we leaned the bikes over a little harder and had enjoyed a bugless and vigorous ride up through a canyon of snow. The pavement was a little treacherous with potholes and frost heaves, but we've got good local knowledge and can read the bad sections well. The roads were dry and there wasn't any sand on the surface except the switchbacks going over Rist on the way back. The rear tire stepped out a few times, but that was planned. Most of the traffic pulled over and let us by. Thank you courteous drivers! This last winter hung on forever. It was a very good day for a ride. Bob

Corbin gunfighter
Yes, the Corbin gunfighter seat is very comfortable. It's been on the bike since '05. Others think they are too firm. I think it's fine. The only improvement would be if the "bum stop" was storage instead of solid foam. Its best features are the ease of shifting from side-to-side in the twisties, lowering the seat height a little bit, and I like the look. My '72 is a low seat frame. Bob

I have to chuckle at what you two call good riding weather. Guess it's all relative to what you are accustomed to.
That's a nice looking Atlas. You just don't see a lot of them around. Did you have to go back with a truck later and pick up all the bits that vibrated off that old Norton?. Or does your friend have a lifetime supply of Loctite?
Triumph looks good. I like the look of that Corbin seat, too. You are right about them missing the boat by not making some storage space in that rear portion.
Glad you finally got out for a "spring" ride.

carb needle
It was nice enough to work outside the shop, finally! I raised the needle one notch on the new Amal fitted to my 73 TR7. I have a slight problem with knocking under load at 1/2 throttle. I retarded the spark 2 degrees and prefer to go no further. The bike runs like a gazelle with its tail on fire. My supervisor didn't like the smell of gas and moved. Bob
Update: The engine 8-stroked badly with the jet needle on the bottom slot (raised), so I put it back in the middle position.

I fit up a pair of deep-valence fenders for my '59. OEM for the rear and repro for up front. Sure changes the overall look of the bike compared to the lightweight '60's style fenders I had on before.
A few more minor tweaks then I'll get them ready for paint.
