I have to admit that I try to avoid stinking up the house with stuff. We have a nice place and there is no reason for me to be spray painting or doing other stinky stuff in the basement. Although I must admit that in winter months I have rigged up a fan that sucks the stink out the basement window and done some spray painting with rattle cans and air brush.

But that all said, I also have to say that my wife never makes a single derogatory statement should I be doing something peculiar in the house. She's grown accustomed to painted parts or freshly plated parts baking in the oven. When I bake paint, I do put the exhaust fan on in the kitchen. I think she's happy to see me playing with my toys rather than sitting at a bar somewhere getting loaded or chasing every skirt that walks by. She never has to look very far to find me, that's for sure. Guess I'm a lucky guy.

She loves all my bikes, too.

regards,
Rob
Rob -

Our wive's must be sisters. Aren't we blessed?

I just can't get her to enjoy riding behind me on the Bonnie.....she loves the Harley, but says the Bonnie is too light and vibrates too much. And she's gotta have her sissy bar......

There`s only one thing better than a pretty woman and that`s a smart woman, one smart enough to know a good man when she sees one.

You`d be surprised to know how few there are.Just a couple of days ago I heard a familiar story again, the one where some stranger tells me he`s looking for a bike now that he`s separated or divorced because the Mrs. made him get rid of it when they got married. No wonder the thing didn`t last!

If the motorcycle is the dealbreaker, then better to keep the bike and ditch the b*tch,it`ll be better for everyone in the end.

Is this the part where someone is supposed to ask if your wife has any sisters Rob?
Her sister is 180 deg opposite my wife. Self-absorbed, ultra-liberal, opinionated as Hell, dishonest (banned from ebay twice for selling knockoffs as real, even got her daughter banished by selling stuff thru her account) and as insecure as you could possibly imagine. I got the keeper for sure. She's Sicilian and cooks like you would not believe. If I did not exercise some self-restraint, I'd look like Haystack Calhoun.

She also loves Tony Soprano so I get a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that if somebody every does me in, my wife will make him wish he was never born.

Rob

Rob - my wife is both pretty and smart (#1 in large HS class), but gladly she thinks she is neither. And her sister, single & 48 with the figure of a 19 yr. old, is still single for one reason - she's like your sisters sister - totally self-centered, demanding, everything has to be her way, a worry-wart, would be impossible to live with. And yeah, she hates bikes.

Again, aren't we blessed?

That strange orange ball was in the sky today so I took my Daytona for a short spin.Check out my youtube link for a short vid of my ride. I appologize for the lousy sound, I'm still looking for a good mic for my camera. It's running real sweet now after a winter of being disassembled and freshened up. Now they are calling for rain again for the next 3 days!

Over the last 2 days I changed the oil, cleaned out all the sludge in the oil resevoir, changed the gear box fluid, replaced the chain, adjusted the clutch, and installed a battery strap on my 1968 T120R. Then I rode her all over town. It always amazes me when the fluids are replaced bikes run so much better...it's like they have a soul and they appreciate the attention. I stopped by the 2 local Triumph dealers and showed her off to all that appreciates classic Triumphs. I was looking forward to running up into the foothills and run the twisties this weekend, but the weather forecast is for cooler temperatures and freakin rain....

I envy your ride...today was to be the day...got all of my issues squared away...shifter plunger revised, new carburetors installed....and we actually had a tornado touch down 3 miles away and drenching rain and 3/4" hail.....not too good a day to ride....sigh...maybe tomorrow.

Replaced lost tank bolt and rubber. Installed and fine tuned new needle and needle jet, after cleaning the carb,. wrestled on a new air cleaner (TR6). Put new footpeg rubbers with Triumph logo. Can't get the kickstarter rubber on, it seems the bore in the rubber is too small, unless there is a trick to it, it is only on 1/2 way.

MoBe, No better sound that that first startup, is there?

I re-bleed my rear brake and discovered the reason everyone disconnects their chokes. The cable slid and I had to ride home with my left hand holding the choke cables up. I've got 50 miles on her now and she's running like a top.

Temps hit 70 degrees here in normally cold Nova Scotia today so went for a nice drive up the coast. Put a little over 100 miles on the old girl and everything checked out great. Another nice day tomorrow and nothing to fix yet. So far so good!! Wish me luck LOL

Now that I'm comitted to battery coil and distributor, removed the magneto stop button from the handlebars for the last time, and added it to my little pile of stuff I plan to flog off on eBay when I'm finished.

What did I do this weekend?
After tearing apart my carbs for the third time this weekend, changeing gas lines and fuel. Inspecting every part on those carbes the bike will only run with the choak on. Called every one that I know and still cannot find out why it will not run.
One old guy told me spray WD40 on the manuifold and let the choak off and see if it will run, I thought he went bonkers.
But that the last thing i had to try.
lesson learned Listen to your elders, new manifold rubbers on order.

Today I put a multimeter on all the ignition parts to see if I could find out why I`m getting such a weak spark on the left cylinder. To make a long story short I couldn`t find any fault and started the bike up again only to find more black smoke coming from the left side. Now I`m going check the timing and points gap on the left to see if the fault lies there.

Go ahead and check the tappet clearance while you're checking things...

As you may recall - I went through a zillion gyrations trying to figure out why my bike would begin to sputter above 4000 RPM in 3rd and 4th gears - I looked at coils, plugs, plug wires, battery, flow from tank and more - only to discover that the clearance on the right exhaust valve had pretty much disappeared.

Once that was put right, all my troubles were solved.

Best of luck to you.

I`ve got 125 lbs. of compression on the right and 135 on the left and the tappet clearances were OK when I last checked but I`ll check again.
