I guess it is obvious from my name and avatar that I play guitar. What do you play?

I play a 1973 Kramer Bass, a 1972 Gibson SG, and a 2008 Les Paul Studio. I use a 65 reissue twin reverb and a Nemesis bass amp The band plays mostly classic instrument and fender amps

Chopin mostly. Nocturnes, preludes and my own stuff. Used to play guitar but never got particularly good, though I enjoyed jamming along to old blues tracks. Still have three guitars, on the off-chance the kids might want to play sometime.

Pics of the guitars I try to play. The strat lookalike is my first guitar, got it when I was 14 - 42 years ago, had the pickups replaced with a set of Fender pickups a couple of years ago. The rest are fairly recent additions (stopped playing for 25 years) The family comprises Aria Diamond (strat lookalike) Ibanez AF75, Epiphone DR200, Aria Bass, Les Paul Custom, Peavey 112 and latest addition is an iRig (cheapest way to add heap of amps and effects via the iPad).

This is what I actually play. Pearl Export Select. A mixture of Zildjian and Meinl cymbals. She's in need of a good cleaning right now though.

And this is what I'm trying to learn. Epiphone Casino. My father and brothers are the ones blessed with the guitar skills though.

Bought this Gibson SJ45 (well, actually - one just like it) in 1966 during the Kingston Trio craze. I played it regularly for for a long time. Now it sits in the closet waiting for my son to get a place that's big enough to accomodate it and a whole raft of s*** that will be his when I get old and feeble.

I grew up playing clarinet and have a nice wooden Selmer right now and am thinking of getting one of the new LeBlanc Bliss clarinets with the black nickel keys. I also have a very nice set of black anodized w/gold keys B&S alto and tenor saxophones. Then just last year I got a Yamaha Bass Clarinet because I really like the mellow low notes. Way fun! Guess I really should take some photos of the above.

I'm STILL hoping to make the time to play guitar more as I own a few. Aesthetics play an important part of my life and I enjoy the wood and craftsmanship that go into guitars along with the sound they produce. Got a nice used Taylor 914c for acoustic. I like sharing pics so here are a few.

Pretty cool Ibenez Gem 7 with pretty Tree of Life on fretboard.

And for those who like figured maple, here's a nice custom Schecter.

Looks like I'll have to do a second post to continue with the photos.

Picked up an old Pearl Import Series drum set that had been sitting around at a gf's for a few years post son's interest. Banging on drums has always seemed to me to be a very innate activity. lol Learned a lot about drum heads when I replaced them all and cymbals when I got a matched set of Sabians. Fun!

When I put a pillow in the bass, Comet immediately crawled in and made himself at home. lol

Final photo including dogbrother Comet. In foreground is an Eastman Archtop and in back a '67 Jaguar (that I've since traded away) and one of my Fender amps. Later, Musical Marky

I see you have a JEM in the mix. How does it play?

I entered the Ibanez/Steve Vai "Design a Jem" contest last spring and submitted several entries. I didn't win but it was fun--seems Steve likes flowery designs.;) The winner is some wimpy looking thing that my daughter wouldn't be caught dead with!

My avatar is one of my entries, based upon my Stratocaster. Here is another.

Wow.....a thread about another one of my passions , guitars. Just a recreational player, my avenue for self improvemnt epecially during the cold winter months. Have acquire a pretty good fleet over the years, dont mind spending money on em because if you buy the right ones, you can just about always get your money back out of them and some will appreciate in value over time. The current fleet:

1979 Gibson ES-347
1968 Gibson SG
1998 Fender Jagmaster (white on white) This guitar was bought from Los Straitjackets gutarist Danny "DaddyOGrande" Amis. It was custom made for him by Fender and used on one of their appearances on the ConanOBrian show. Has a certificate signed by Mr Amis and DVD of the Conan show included.
2009 DiPinto Galaxie IV. IMO one of the best $600 guitars you can buy right now.
2005 Fender "Jimmie Vaughn" Strat
1979 Alvarez DY45 Acoustic
1968 Supro 6 string Lap Steel

Below is pic of the JV Strat and 68 SG with my 1967 ProReverb amp.
