Rode 130 miles (to eat lunch then back home) yesterday and it was pretty chilly as was cloudy, windy and mid 40's but still glad to to get out and ride

Rode there with a good friend who was on his KTM 890
Isn't i funny/great how we bikers drive miles and miles just for lunch or a coffee?

Got well over 50F today. Needed to pick up a few things at the grocery store. Like flowers for the woman who gave me this bike. Off we go!

Errand completed, stopped for some ethanol free in case any winter cobwebs needed roasting. Was a bit more enthusiastic with the throttle than usual. Not because of any base urges or listening to the pipes, no sir, not at all, just a mild Italian tuneup. Yeah, that's the ticket. Bit of a sprinkle from the clouds for a few minutes, but who cares? Totally worth it. Good for the soul.

Riding season is almost here.

...must get the Rocket 3 titled....:ROFLMAO:

...and a new battery for the Scrambler...

Well, if you chop up ramen noodles really small you can put the soup in a hydration bladder. Then you wouldn't have to stop for lunch. :)

I went into my mates (Car) garage today and a 955i Speed triple was sitting. "Whats up with that" asks I. Turns out the owner changed tanks now it won't run. Unable to find out whether he had changed over the fuel pump etc, but I got it to start with easy start, so I know it has sparks. Ive asked him to contact the owner and bring in his original tank and I'll change over all the gubbins.
It seems I've morphed into a bike mechanic (of sorts) as last week I had to get a Honda Blackbird up and running...Tick, and a couple of 125s, also tick.
I've posted a more indepth question over in the Triples section, so I'll see what develops, although next week I'm heading over to Boston Ma. to visit my mate, so it'll lie there for a few weeks

Took my stolen recovered GSX14 for MOT this morning, it passed so I went on a short test run to check everything is ok with it. 280 miles later I got home having been to Whitby for a pint.

I've got a couple of jobs to do on it tomorrow, but nowt major.

For those that don't know the story. It was nicked by feral youths last August & appeared in a bush a month ago. From checking everything over they'd never got it running & it even came back still with a full tank of fuel! A new ignition lock, number plate & battery was all she needed to be going again. I didn't realise how much I'd missed it till I rode it again, it's a bike that just suits me perfectly. Oh & it ticked over 168k miles while out today.

Great news mate
I didn't know you'd got it back. Did you have to buy it back from the Ins Co?

Nope, I found out before they auctioned it as the salvage place rang me to ask for the keys!

Shame the same salvage place did more damage than the theft & their own pics prove it. So it's still with the insurance to get paid out for the damage from that & the theft. Well more precisely for them to agree a price with me for it all as they paid out on the bike & I've not given that back yet.
Lucky I went to the ombudsman about the stupidly low value they paid out, as it meant the claim was still open so I could just get it back. Had it it back 3 weeks now, sorted it the first week but waited for the snow to go before MOTing it. Can't tax it yet as there's some issue online trying & the insurance comp hasn't sent the V5 or other docs back yet so I can't go to a post office to do the the old fashioned way. I'm guessing it gets marked as Cat 'something' for stolen recovered?

The occasionally soggy front brakes got sorted this morning, the ends of the pads had gone rusty so they stuck in the calipers. Then I rebuilt the clutch slave as it needed the fluid changing & often sludges up. Then a 8 mile round trip to a tea wagon just to prove it works.

Probably taking her out again tomorrow as it's meant to be dry.

Mild weather today and i was planning a nice ride- bike started as normal, let her warm up for a few minutes, and when I give her the throttle she sounds like sh*t- rough at mid RPM, some back firing and spitting back- doesn't want to pull smoothly. Bike was on a tender all winter, gas was treated with stabilizer and topped off, any thoughts? Bike has 14 K on it and has performed flawlessly until today..

Thanks

You’ve got way more experience than me but I’ll commiserate with you and say if you put the bike away running well, then ii would just run let it fully warm up from cold and ride the tank and refill. Ryan F9 has a YouTube video on fuel stabilizers. May change your mind about some. Let us know when you get it sorted.

What stabilizer did you use? I've always used Stabil with good results but after the winter of 2021/2022 my Sprint Sport carbs got all gummed up anyway, I had to take them apart and clean them. Same thing with my snow blower last October. Went to fire it up to make sure it was OK, wouldn't run, carb was all gummed up. I'm not necessarily saying it was the Stabil, I think it could just as well be gas is getting more and more crappy. My point is, don't assume because you used stabilizer, you don't have fuel system issues.
