Most of the subforums have "what did you do to your insert model/family here today threads. Those are really about wrenching. Let's have one about riding. Just short little stories about how your bike enriched your life today.

I have been tinkering with my new to me 2014 Scrambler. It's only been in the garage for six days. Today I put together a spare fuse kit. Then I went off to get a few miles in before the afternoon weather hit. I wanted to try out a dirt road not far from me. The tank was at 150 miles, so I wanted gas first (no fuel light yet, but still, 150 miles). So off to the gas station. Halfway there a sasquatch started tapping at my right calf. Investigation revealed that the sasquatch was a loose side cover. fiddling with the sidecover to check on the fuse size had cost me the rubber grommets. I held it in place, and watched a few raindrops as I pulled under the canopy over the pumps. The rain stopped, I got some gas, and headed for a hardware store to see if the grommets could be had without a trip to a dealership or the internet. Bad news; Ace Hardware thinks they know better than the CDC. Good news; they have grommets that work. Spares purchased, and added to the same bag as the spare fuses.

Off to the dirt road. I've got about 50 or 60 miles of dirt experience on this bike. This road was the worst I've tried. Holy heck. Not a ton of fun. And the skies were growing more threatening. So I grabbed a couple of photos for this thread and turned around.

A few drops came down as I was heading back. My almost bald rear tire is almost okay on dry dirt. I did not want to find out how it would behave on wet dirt/mud. Getting back to pavement was a good feeling under those conditions. I rode some wet roads where a bit of rain had passed through, but got home dry. Less than an hour later we got a wave of hail. My timing was good today.

Tell us a story! Pics preferred of course, but not mandatory.

I went for a ride early this morning and was back home by 10:00. I wanted to be home before the people came out and before it got too humid. Then I spend the afternoon stripping paint off various BMW parts.

Today I only had time for a run to the store for a few things and filled the tank. Busy with yard stuff.
A few weeks ago I had a nice ride along the base of Blue mountain in Berks/Lehigh county here in Pa. The Appalachian trail is at the top of it. Spring was on it's way up the mountain, you can see the green line.

All my bikes have enriched my life for over 48 years now and 46 years on British bikes, still own and ride my old Norton that I brought new back in the 70s and have so many stories and adventures with mate's who I still ride with to this day, but have also lost a few friends as well, so any day on the bikes is a good day and even better with good friends and every time on the road is a adventure, life is great on two wheels.

Took my Tbird out for a quick ride before I changed the oil. First time ever changing motorcycle oil went excellent. Took it for a 15 minute test ride after and no leaks and no lights coming on. Smiling the whole time on a job well done.
Typically I find it's easier on a motorcycle than a car. Trucks are the absolute easiest, but motorcycles aren't bad. Congratulations on your first MC oil change!

It depends on the truck. I think Ford built the old V6 Ranger around the oil filter.

Moto Guzzi puts the oil filter in the oil pan. So, you drain the oil, then remove the pan to replace the filter. Either someone at Guzzi hated clean garage floors or they needed the extra revenue from oil pan gasket sales. I’m guessing it’s the latter, given their history.

I drilled & tapped holes in my top yoke to take a home modified twat-nav mount. I like the position & I'm away for a road trip from Friday, so no time to order something & I prefer to use stuff I've got for free. I'll be keeping the bike forever* as I never seem to sell bikes, so who cares if others wouldn't like the holes.

In case you meant it seriously, it's in the 'what I did to my Sprint today' thread.

It's a twat-nav as you see loads of twats staring at them not the road & sticking them in the middle of the windscreen to make sure they can't see past it.

Today I got my functional-fins Scrambler back from the shop with new tires. Excellent service at a local independent shop, and I have to say.... I have never in my motorcycling life felt a bigger tire-based transformation. The bike had the original Trailwings on it, which I've read referred to as deathwings. It now has Heidenau tires, which I got on the shop's recommendation. Granted, the Trailwings were s-h-o-t shot, and the Heidingnow tires are brand new, but wow. It's an amazing difference.

I took Hedy over to Tractor Supply today. Came back out and one of the clerks was ogling her. He had some great stories. Used to ride an 850 Norton. His best story was about this dance hall that was originally a warehouse. It had a highly polished floor and warehouse doors. He was riding in on his V-max and someone walked in front of him. He meant to swerve just a little bit and go around them, and ended up doing a complete 360. Not 180, 360. He said someone told him "you made that bike dance!" He got hit by a pickup, stopped riding for years, and now he's about to get back into it with a riders course.

Rode round some local back lanes on my 1200R , made me wish for a Scrambler instead . Many had evidence of recent flooding with mud and other slippy stuff coating the road surface , even found a short stretch with grass growing down the middle of the tarmac . Still enjoyed it though there was more bug splat now the weather has decided to catch up with the time of year .

Had my second Pfizer Covid injection on Friday and felt awful yesterday (not much better now) so fitted a pair of handlebar end caps to the T120 instead. Didn't feel like riding it though, and should have got the black versions as the gunmetal don't match anything, but then neither did the original ones.
These were bought from the Chinese equivalent of Amazon, AliExpress, very good it would seem as the manufacturers for the western companies sell the items at sensible prices, wished I'd been told about it earlier.
Only problem is they keep the credit card details and my UK bank will not allow me to use it anymore as they think its a dodgy site. Shame as there were other items I'd wished to purchase.

It was a perfect Memorial Day morning for a ride here in sw Florida so I was out the door by 8:30 on my TTR and it was 72 degrees for a perfect start. I said F it I neeeeeeded a good reason to really detail my bike so I went for a aimless 2 hr drive around Ft. Myers trying to collect bugs on my fly screen. Stopped at a few spots to take some urban shots And reflect. I pulled into this one dead end spot that looks across the caloosahatchee river and there was a guy fishing right off edges the sea wall So I stopped for a couple of pics and talked to the fisherman for a few.
He asked me if my bike was a Harley I had to chuckle inside, I think my look through him off…lol. He almost caught a fish but lost it.
the TTR was flawless in performance enjoyed every minute of it, got back home by 10:30 the temp was 80 so it worked out great for a nice comfortable ride before the heat really kicked in.
I want to throw a shout out and super thanks to all the military men and women who sacrifice their lives defending this country so I am able to enjoy the freedoms I have……FTG
