Pulled the rear wheel to replace the brake pads, when going back together I see this. Got it all back apart and the swing arm out, just have to wait for the new (used) belt to get here. Thank God for Ebay, not paying $300 and change for a new one.

Just make sure you have a tool to move the adjuster sleeve. I'm using a straight pry bar as a screwdriver with a wrench on it. How many miles you have on yours? Because if there's no worn or torn spots, I'd probably leave it.

About 70k. I'm sure they can go much longer, as at least one guy had 130k when he sold his with the original belt. But mine is worn from rubbing to where it's width has whittled down about I'd say 1/8". So I'm thinking about changing it in the not to distant future just to err on the safe side. Maybe a used one on ebay to make it even cheaper. I see them there pretty regularly.

So that sleeve....how do you torque it when you reinstall everything? I don't even get how the system even works. Guess it'll be a learning experience. Just hope i don't learn what NOT to do the hard way !

I'll have to look up the torque spec, but it can't be much. The sleeve only takes up the side to side play on the swing arm before you torque the swing arm bolt.

I don't need the spec, i have the service manual. But i was just wondering HOW you torqued it w/o a torque wrench. As to side to side play, i can't picture how that sleeve eliminates that but i guess f and when i do this i'll find out.

Any advice on swingarm removal? Thinking it's about time for mine too, just due to mileage. Seems like a job tho.
I changed my belt last year at 85k. The outside of the belt was worn and the width was down to about 30mm. Each tooth was worn slightly and not easily seen until compared side by side with the new belt. I guess it still has at least 10~20k of life so I'm saving it for a spare if the new one has a blowout.
I made a tool for the frame adjuster from one of my sockets. The socket should be the same outside diameter as the frame adjuster. I used a zip wheel to cut two fingers to engage the grooves in the frame adjuster. The frame adjuster is threaded on the outside and screws into threads in the frame. When it is tight it pinches all of the bearings and spacers together to eliminate side to side play. When it is loose and the axle is removed it allows some wiggle room to remove/replace the swing arm.
Before you take anything loose you should clean the swing arm. Depending on the amount of crud you might want to consider using grease cutter, and a brush. I used some wooden blocks under my swing arm so it would not accidentally fall. My bike has ABS so I could not remove it completely but I was able to move it enough to work the old belt out and install the new belt. Before you loosen the frame adjuster make a mark for reference. It only needs to be loosened, not removed. When reassembled and torqued it should come back to the same place. When I removed the arm one of the spacers on the right side fell out. When you reassemble make sure you have everything in place. You can't turn the frame adjuster unless the axle is partially withdrawn. When you put the axle back in, push it all the way through so all the spacers and bearings line up. You might want to just snug the frame adjuster, insert/withdraw the axle all the way again, before you torque it.

Thanks for that, I appreciate it ! Much of it went whoosh because i can't picture any of it and not sure what the frame adjuster or anything is for that matter aside from the arm and axl. But once i try it i'm sure more of it will become apparent, plus i have the service manual which is pretty pathetic but will help some too. Won't be till quite some time anyways b4 i do it.
