Wrinkly old dude with smooth new bike signing in from (not so) sunny Wales. Recently changed my 2018 Street Scrambler for a 2019 1200 XC.
Looking forward to rambling incoherently - and I may just post stuff on here as well!

Sunny? Wales? :D Which day was that?! Somewhere up around Oswestry?

Rambling incoherently, wrinkly, you'll fit right in!

Hi Lambroving
I'm beginning to think I dreamt it whilst snoozing to the patter of rain on the roof!
The photo is from Claerwen, but how on earth do you know about Oswestry? I do live fairly close to Os as it happens, so it's not spooky at all that you mention it seeing as how you seem to be in Central Virginia!

The MSCC MOG 2004 was centered on the showgrounds. Around 700 cars showed up. Local Centre DEVAMOG organized that one with loads of local attractions and scenic runs over four days. Had a hired blue 4/4 for that one. A few random snaps. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/lambroving/Miscellany/album24/ And a few from a Harrogate pal. https://pbase.com/wnoble/mog04&page=all

You'll doubtless recognize a few spots. ;) Unfortunately, most of the logistics which made ~ 10 MOG visits in past years no longer exist. The Oswestry locals did a brilliant job though and ranks among the best I've attended. Lots of us stayed an extra day and as you'll see, I returned the car to SW7 via Severn B-roads to see a bit more.

Had been loaned a good navigator for the long scenic runs and learned the term "hand-bagging" for spirited driving. :D

Welcome
Bike looks ideal to get off the beaten track and explore some of that beautiful Welsh scenery.
I'm not so much thinking about when I'll get to ride next, as much as why I seem to have a moat around my front garden.:laugh2:

Ooooh, I recognise the 'Welsh Hearth' in your pikkies as its in my local hostelry, The Hand!
We get lots of specialist car clubs visiting our little valley. The most memorable event was at a Rolls Royce owner's club event and watching two late 1920's Bentley Le Mans cars trying to park in a very tight space and knocking the mudguards off one of them!

If I have a moat around my front garden, then Manchester is already lost as I'm at 260 meters above sea level!

Found that one exploring on my own but ThamesMog was using the nearby inn. Really good cod at "The Hand" BTW! Not much of a Real Ale selection IIRC. My patch was the Cotswolds which is full of outstanding ales.

Had recorded the UCI Worlds Mens Elite race overnight and just turned it on. @Scotty obviously wasn't kidding! Had watched the time trials on Wednesday which were mercifully dry, but clips were shown of other races with deep standing water. The race I'm watching has lost two climbs due to standing water and damp and 55 F looks grim. Long race. Expecting more carnage but such is racing... No helicopter coverage due to the weather! :(
