chello, was in fact the last. Sorry mate. I got the one on toocks.com despite thinking it was a hoax to start with. Turns out they where straight up and only deal in old stock premium brands. keep them peeled! If it's any consolation trying to find the sebring is working out alot harder.

I emailed them and they can still get em.But price is going up to 1179.00 with VAT.Almost doubled!!!
$1339.00 US without VAT and shipping, not horrible considering how hard theyr'e becoming to find.
I wonder if any of the Euro dealers would do it, if we could get a good price on a group buy.Maybe 10,20?
Who's interested?

Carbon hugger arrived from skidmarx.co.uk today. As promised pic attached. My opinion on the part..... its OK, nowt more. Edges are rough and came with a big f*** off scratch in it. That being said I'll be getting a replacment, it's better than the stock plastic.

I've got to say from the pictures it looks much better than stock.

Sorry to hear it didn't turn out as nice as you'd hoped, maybe your replacement will have a better finish.I've never used skidmarx myself so it would be interesting to hear their response.

Good luck

Hi Silkie, how did you get on with your replacement carbon hugger from skimarks.

Was the finish any better? I'm thinking about getting one plus the front mudguard as i can't seem to find any Super 3 originals.

Cheers Chello

To be honest chello the finish is moderate at best. The edging sucks and I can imagine the clear coat flaking if I'm not careful. I'm looking into some rubber edging that might protect the part for a while longer than if left as is.

If I were doing this again I'd be questioning Geelong about their product, get some close ups of the edges, if they round off the lacquer and finish it up nice go for it!

Skidmarx polished out the scratches left by their over enthusiastic trimmer! :D

I will be mounting it in the next couple of months, more than likely in time for the mk1 meet up Mot is planning. You can check it out there if you like. Also I'll post up some shots of the finish to help explain further why I'm not overly enamoured with the part.

All that said, it's still better than stock.

Cheers for the heads up, i think i'll give them a miss for now and see what turns up.

I had a look at the geelong website and they look good quality but they bloody well should be for the money they want.

It would be good to see them on the bike so hopefully you'll have them fitted for Mot's gathering. Should be good to see so many mk1's together and see what others have done to their bike.

Hi Silkie, just had a look at Mots website "mottley biker and under the header "tarting up my carbon hugger" he cleans up the edges of his hugger with some screen edgeing, looks pretty good too. May be worth a go.:)

I'm not one for gloating but look what landed at my front door today!!!!

Good times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:Happy
Whilst there are alternatives, it's nice to get the real deal! Lovely bit of kit. :)

As regards the hugger I'd probably clean up the edges and then it get it re-laquered. You shouldn't have to, but to get the result you want it will be cheaper than selling it and going elsewhere.

I think I'm going to keep mine standard!!!

Hope to see you guys in a few month's time.

Just a little update on the refurb gents, I need to pull my finger out if I don't want to turn up at hinkley in a mondeo!

Glaffers arrived yesterday.
Alcons refirbed and ready to fit with hoses & stainless fixings.
Ohlin on the shelf, ready to fit.
I have a plan for the carbon hugger (cheers boys).
cool cafe racer bar end mirror modded and fitted. looks the nuts!

So this weekend Mot is helping out getting the wheels off and ready for powder coat next week, tuesday ish.

Going to start wooing my paint man and get the tins over to him soon.

Couple of questions: -
My 3-1 is crappy, I'm considering a trident exhausts replacement. Are they any good?

FCRs - Really worth it and why no choke? This is a big ticket item if I went new.

Trident does quality stuff; I'm quite happy with their carbon stubby on my RS.

FCRs are the best thing you can do for a T3 on the track. For street riding, either of the CV options will probably make you much happier.

Cheers,

Trident 3-1 is actually a Motad. It even arrives in the post having been sent from Motad. It's quit expensive, cheaper direct from Motad.
TBH, the header configuration is less than ideal: 3-2-1, welds aren't great and the end can is already blowing a little around the rivets. The dyno says it costs a lot 3500-4000. Sounds ace though. I'm still looking for a long forgotten Yoshi header

FCRs: for pure pounds per horsepower, in my experience, not worth it, unless you are
a) going to have work done on the motor at a later date
b) like fiddling and have access to a dyno and some time/jets (I'm running 55/155)

The FCR set up is still producing power at the redline, so if you're feeling lucky you could remove this cut out and claim a few more. Ride-ability is absolutely fine. You can make them bog if you really try hard but most of the time they ride like stock, just with a bit sharper response. Fuel consumption is up.

No choke is not an issue. Starts fine every time, all weathers.

I'd be tempted to track down a secondhand set of OE headers (if you don't already have a set) and refurb them if you can't find one of the OE Sebring 3-1 race systems.

I can recommend the trident link pipes and carbon end cans, good quality and great sound...with the baffles out ;)

I'm tempted to refurb mine and then fit some black exhaust wrap (because I am a tart) but my shed is too cold and damp at the moment, what I wouldn't give for a proper garage on the side of my house...I honestly want to move house just to get one...

Got to pull my finger out before the meet though, can't let the side down :)

Silkie your ohlins and alcons are pure T3 porn, I must stop looking at them :D
