So, it's a slow day on the forum. While I wait for the leathers, I figured I'd have a look around the website for our nearest track. Not a Triumph in sight!

There were a few amusing photos, though.

Here's one for Cheap - Christmas ideas for the rugrats?

Now, I dunno 'bout this. I mean, how far do you really need to hang off the bike? Maybe he's just inspecting the curb.

Actually, he's not going that fast... he's just got really good upper body strength.

And finally, gotta love fast women.

I love the pic of the red gixxer(#979), that guy don't have too far to go before they start call'n him 'elbows' like Ben Spies. :-D

As fer the rugrats, they will have to learn to ride on their pedal powered 2 wheelers, before they git the motor powered 2 wheelers. :hammer: :-D

My favorite part is how the entire track is surrounded by tall trees that you can slam into if you crash. At least put out some bails of hay or something?
Well, they grow there own pine, so if ya screw up they can mail ya arse back home in a pine box. :-D

R100, you should def. check out Jennings if you haven't already. Very likely the only good set of curves in the whole state!

Jeez, Euro...first you're complainin' about the trees, then you're complainin' about the lack of trees...make up your mind. :-D

The trees aren't a big worry there, it's a relatively low speed track and the runoff is better than it looks in that one pic.

That said, I know someone did die there last year, after running into the trees, so there is a couple dangerous spots. I think the guy went off unseen and sat in the woods for half a session before his friends started trying to find him.

could anyone tell me what the approximate cost to get a street legal s3 onto thte track is? i've never been to one before and i really don't know what happens in between pulling up and getting on the track..
alot of my riding buddies are either in they're second season of track, or are in my position who want to, but haven't yet. so any info is appreciated

In Jennings, FLA. It's a motorcycles only track.

Jruss - Cost just to prep your bike are low to nill. I'm not sure what tracks are close to you (Pocono? VIR?), but most trackdays have beginner groups where the only bike prep is removing or taping lights/blinkers/mirrors, some require switching out coolant or maybe safety-wiring (usually only for the faster groups).

Costs for the trackday will vary. I've paid $100 for limited instruction open trackdays or over $300 for a day at a track school like CLASS. If you have the cash, it's a great idea to attend a reputable school (CLASS, STAR, California Superbike, Suzuki/Schwantz, etc.) who employ some of the top riders in the country as instructors. Especially, if it's your first time at the track.

Believe me, getting tips from guys like Kevin Schwantz or Reg Pridmore, or actually riding with guys like Opie Caylor, Lee Acree, Andrew Trevitt, etc. is worth every penny.

Check out the websites of your local tracks or look at http://www.nesba.com or http://www.sportbiketracktime.com

Jennings required prep is pretty minimal - tape up the lights, have tires with no more than 30% wear, good brake pads and be mechanically sound.

Recommended mods include:
Mirrors removed
Remove all lighting fuses
Removal of coolant and replaced with water & water wetter
Tire weights taped
Kickstand removed (you will need a bike stand if this is performed)

Rider Requirements:
Helmet: Helmet must be undamaged DOT full faced Helmet with face shield
Riding Boots: Riding Boots must cover the ankles
Riding Gloves: Gloves must cover entire hand and extend over the wrist
Leather Suits: Leather Suit may be one piece or two piece that zips together

Track days are $125 on weekends and $99 on Mondays, although I know they sometimes give discounts to groups or clubs.

My christmas present to myself? Ordered leathers tonight. Unfortunately, I could not find any with tweety bird on 'em.
