The extra power would be nice but 18% sounds much more impressive than 10 hp. It will be interesting to see how the shift in the torque curve plays out, although shedding weight may well offset that. Riding modes really are borderline gimmick (seriously, who uses rain mode?). Brembo calliper is a bit wow but will it make much difference?
It’s as if Triumph has set out to knock value off the current bikes more than take a great leap forward.

The riding modes are a good idea from a marketing standpoint. The Street Twin really is aimed at casual riders and/or entry/novice lifestyle riders. And not 1% Lifestyle, more like "hipster" lifestyle. As a result, the more security/safety/modern techno wizardy that can be offered at minimal cost, the better from a marketing standpoint. This is especially true if one is cross-shopping the Street Twin (and family) against other bikes that have a similar horsepower output. In most cases, the ST has a LOT more torque at low RPMs.
