any of you guys in the UK know why it costs so much to send something to the US? i was looking on ebay UK and saw a seat i wanted, the shipping to the US would cost $240 USD. less than a year ago one of the uk guys from this board sent me a NWS hugger and shipping was less than $40, i dont get it.is there a reason, did shipping prices go up that much?

Royal Mail is very expensive. End of.

What does a seat weigh when it's packaged? A 20lb parcel will cost £90 plus to send to the US in a reasonable time.

I bought a stack of parts from a place in California - fair sized parcel - and the postage was less than half it would cost to send it the other way.

So what does it weigh? trying to help......

FEDEX DHL UPS are all probably great. How many people have an account with one of them? Not many. Are their offices close by? Never - always out of town.

Unless you can walk into the post office with the item it's too much trouble. May as well sell it to someone in UK or Europe.

Just as a point of reference, last April I sent a corbin seat for a Rocket 3 across the UK (about 350 miles from me) and it cost £15 by Royal Mail (nearly $30 USD). Providing the dimensions are ok it would cost around £80 - £100 ($160 - $200 USD) to send by Royal Mail to the USA. This is due to a high cost of living here in the UK and of course the exchange rate being nearly $2 USD to £1 sterling (good for us if we go on holiday :-D )
