Well I just go back from the Gap and what a difference a year makes. Last year I was quite unhappy with the performance of the bike. Well after getting the suspension dialed in I can say I am very happy.

I think knee sliders will be required for next year.

If anyone is interested here are some pics

P.S. I made the highlights page.

Save the knee draggin for the track. There's a very nice track in Millville, NJ........... give it a go.

I ride that part of NC several times a year and usually take only one pass over Deals Gap. That is, without a doubt, the most dangerous 11 miles in the world. You never know what you'll meet in your lane when you round any one of the 318 turns. I've seen way too much blood, guts, and brains spilled on that road and many times it was not the fault of the rider.

Last year on a ride over there were 2 wrecks along the way. One was very serious when a rider crossed the line and hit a PU truck head on!!! A few miles further down the road I almost became a hood ornament on the Ambulance speeding to the scene..... in my lane in the middle of a right hander.

Be very careful, the dragon has killed many a skilled rider and more with less skill.

Great pictures.....

Well,

I will agree with Roadscum. The Dragon is a very dangerous
road. However, there are lots of dangers on the mountain
roads of NC. I should know they are my dialy drive! It seems
to be the problem of people running late and taking your lane
to go around a corner faster. Several times now, I have been
left with about a foot of my lane to use. Some speed is ok,
I like everyone else in has to open the ride up a little. However,
I do leave myself an out to speak of so I am not on the edge
of control. It is not a race to see who can be at the accident
scene first, you or the other person in your lane!

For your next trip on the Dragon, Try a weekday, after rush
hour, early spring on a cool morning. Traffic is much less then,
bettering your chances. Also try some other roads in NC that
are less traveled, look at any map many follow rivers in tight
gaps in the mountains, those are the ones you want.

Have fun and stay alive,

Love the Dragon. I've got some great photos of my friends and I riding there, too. It's really neat that there are photographers out all the time. Lots of traffic, though. Have you been on the Cherohala Skyway? That's on my agenda for this season.
