As Brooksie suggests, whatever bags you use, get the panel protectors. They work great and look okay even when your soft luggage is removed.
I have the Triumph soft saddlebags and tank bag. The saddlebags work well even at 140+ kph (apparently the Triumph legal beagles say you should not exceed 130 kph with the bags on the bike). They have integrated rain covers and are expandable. They snap in place in seconds, though you do need to fit a cover over the passenger seat. You also need to retain the rear turn indicators for the panel protector clips (I am still trying to figure out how to fit an undertail and retain a means to attach the panel protectors at the back end).
The tank bag is okay, but the pad has to stay in place when the bag is removed...and it looks like hell. I am going to rig a quick release set up for the pad and bag over the winter so that you can remove the entire works when you don't need it.
Both the saddle bags and the tank bag are expensive but I think they are a worthwhile investment to give some touring and commuting flexibility.

What's the cost for a set of these protectors? Anyone besides Triumph make them? Triumph, although extremely good quality...is more than a little pricy.

I called my dealer on them and I think he said like 84.00, very pricey. They hook to the rear fender and passenger pegs from what he said, but since I cut the ugly fender off I don't know if I could fasten them without modifying them even if I were willing to pay anywhere near that kind of money. In the past I've just used clear duct tape, a double layer and it has worked fine, no bodywork damage or scuffing and it peels right off and a little adhesive remover and the glue from the tape comes off.

Any chance of photos of the panel protectors without the bags.
I want to go with soft side luggage but I refuse to pay Triumphs extortionate prices.
Sounds like something I might be able to knockup in the garage one evening. (Well maybe several evenings) :wink:

I see triumph bags on e bay all the time ,I think the bags and the seat cover are all the same,we have 2 sets tt600 and sprint rs,
they are identical ,only the panel protectors are bike specific,so you could save alot of money by getting a use set. There is alot of hard ware for the panel protectors, i think those would be best bought new. As some people forget to take it off when they sell or wreck a bike.
The triumph bags are excellent luggage !
