Here's something i don't understand.....

The top end on my trident (book speed) is a apparently, approx: 140mph (mine hits that easily and then some on the clock!) @ max revs

The top end on the early speed triple 900 is approximatly the same....they, as far as im aware had exactly the same engine.

So if my triple has six gears and the Speed triple has 5, then the S3 must have much lazier gearing to reach the same top end before running out of revs....thus surely the Trident will accelerate quicker!

Am i missing something here??

No, that's pretty-much the case. There'd be a poofteenth difference either way and you've got an additional change to make (though you probably wouldn't hit 6th or him 5th anyway).

The later Speed Triples used the 6-speed 'box 'cause that's what the people wanted.
