Just thought you might like to see a milestone.
The Odo rolled over while I was away for a road trip to QLD, just before I headed for home. (note it's km, not miles)
For those who don't know the history, this bike was one of the few that was used in the MI2 movie, purchased at auction with 1,000 hard ridden kms by the previous owner, Leo sold it to me with 39,000kms in April 2004. Since then it's been my daily rider and has given me no grief whatsoever.
I've replaced the cooling fan once, plus the usual consumables and at the last service the mechanic commented that the bike felt like it was a lot newer than the mileage suggested. When he did the valve service, there was still plenty of shim space available to rectify the receding valves.
On my last trip I covered just over 2,500km and it burned about 500ml of oil over the whole trip and still returns great economy. The bike is stock, except for Renthal bars, Corbin seat and the Ventura rack.
I hope some of you get the service I have had out of Merlin. It's been a great bike and will probably get pensioned off one day, and put in the shed as part of my small (3 so far) collection, but until then I'm as happy as anyone could be with the way it's carried me to work and back and on tours, both one and two up.
