I've ordered my new Storm with short TORS, hi-flow air filter and mapping to suit.

My question is: How would you know if the dealer mapped the TORS?

I can understand how people have done it "after market" as they would probably be able to feel/tell the difference. But getting it done before delivery means I wouldn't have any comparison.

I've had problems in the past where dealers have said they've carried out certain work in relation to servicing, but I've discovered later on that they haven't.

Go to tuneecu.com and download tuneecu. order a cable for it. ($10-20) the site has all the info. Plug the PC into the bike via the cable and you can read the map in the ECU and it will tell you what map it is. The tuneecu site hosts all the triumph tunes for the tbird and each one tells you what it's for. the one you want for the storm 1700 with tors is the 20310 tune. It's worth getting the cable because besides being able to load maps with tuneecu, you can check them, alter them, adjust a number of things including speedo accuracy, throttle balance, check the error code when the bike's engine malfunction light goes on, etc etc.

Hum, Dazco must be sleeping late -
TORs are the Triumph Off Road "mufflers" which come in either short or long. They are designated "of road" because they don't meet some street legal standards in some locations but they are universally used as upgrades here in the US. The short TORs are known for enhancing performance and are the least expensive upgrade pipe out there.
I've learned all of this from reading the posting of others as I'm also a newbie.
Others can explain better the pro's and con's as well as the tune changes required if you go that route.

I assume that they're a dealer item...haven't looked TOO hard at the Triumph site but didn't see them during my casual glances...

Yep - British Cutstoms is the source - you can order directly though and there are videos describing the installation. You'd need to re-map though.

Yep the TORS are on the Triumph site. Just go to Create my Triumph and you can choose the long or short.

Someone pointed out my mistake in this thread....the 20310 is NOT the correct storm map because it has no SAI. At least that should be true. So the same map W/O sai would be 20363 for all the world except japan.
