Hey y'all,

I've gotten a little worried lately about just how much weight I'm lugging around in the left saddlebag where my tool kit lives. It got me to thinking about what I'm carrying with me, & that got me to thinking that I don't need a lot of what I have....

I'd like to make a list of the drivers necessary to work on the bike, and from there eliminate unnecessary tools from my tool kit. Maybe we could even sticky this thread in the maintenance section, once it becomes definitive or close to it.

So, to start:

Screwdrivers:

#2 Phillips - Peg rubbers, signal covers.
#3 Phillips - Battery terminals. (#2 will do in a pinch.)

Torx:

T30 - Many small bolts on engine, tank, airbox, etc.
T55 - Brake caliper bolts.

Allen/internal hex:

4mm - Front tank bolt.
5mm - Fairing bolts.
6mm - Side fairing bolts under seat.
8mm -

Hex (external):

8mm - Engine covers.
9mm -
10mm - Cooling system bleed screws.
12mm -
13mm -
14mm -
17mm - Chain adjuster eccentric pinch bolt, oil drain plug.
32mm - Stem nut. (Is this correct?)
36mm - Front (countershaft / driveshaft) sprocket nut.
46mm - Rear wheel and axle nuts. (SSSA models)

Special:

Spanner for SSSA chain adjuster eccentric.
Torque wrench.
Oil filter wrench. (Size?)

-----

Can anyone think of other sizes or tools necessary? I'm looking at my list & seeing a fair amount of stuff I can take out of my tool wrap.

Thanks,
-Kit

Kit this is what I carry:

Stock Triumph tools made from Swiss cheese (like most other brands)

1 x Cargol puncture repair kit with 4 co2 bottles

1 x roll duct tape

1 x pocket knife (swiss army style)

1 x Leatherman copy tool

and I still think you need my lucky rabbits foot!:D

On my Daytona I just carry my wallet.

Thanks, Dave, but I'm actually trying to do something a little different here: I'm not trying to do another "what's in your tool kit" thread, but rather to get a list of every driver required to work on our bikes.

As far as that rabbit's foot goes, I've always thought that if they were really all that lucky, their original owners would still have them!

Cheers,

When on my Sprint I carry almost the exact setup, with 2 exceptions:

1) I also carry a mini "Mag-Lite"

2) I don't have a lucky rabbit's foot - my reason being the rabbit had 4 of em' and they didn't help him any.:D
