Has anyone out there had problems with lightening the timing gears on the unit twins? was think about sending mine out to have it done to balance out the added weight of the hunt magneto over on that side? They are obviously weaker but has anyone had teeth break or one fail?

Drilling holes in the timing gears just wastes horsepower.Even turning/facing the web on the gears is not a great idea.It reduces the flywheel effect that smoothes valve action.

The engine/gearbox is already very heavy on the primary side. The centre of gravity is about 4mm from the crankcase parting line. It's heavy enough at the primary to make a unit Triumph steer left if both wheels are central in the frame.
