Well got her in the shed and took a bunch of pics. Here's the story, a friend of mine bought this bike in a multi bike purchase plus an enclosed trailer. The other 2 bikes were Harley's which is his specialty. The executor of the estate was with the owner when he bought it new on July 13, 1967, which just happens to be the day before MY birthday. So my friend called me first as he knows I do Britbikes. I asked him what he wanted to do with it and he said "Sell it like it is". I guess you know what happened next LOL. Anyway enjoy. My plan is to clean it real good and ride it unless someone offers what I think it's worth.

Well yes real close to the end. Being held up by a minor welding job. The bike is all original as stated before and I have been spending time correcting incorrect items (minor) and cleaning everything really well. Yes I can hear some of you "You cleaned up all the original patina" but no way am I going to let the 52 year old chrome go to hell. Still plenty of patina. Nothing has been re-painted as the bike only had 3,500 original miles and is in really great shape. Very few ham fisted fasteners. All lights and horn work!! Original 35 amp Lucas fuse in the fuse holder. The bike wet-sumped at some time and the mains, etc, bathed in oil for the past 30+/- years. Going to drain the oil and re use it for the initial start up. Had to pull the top end due to moisture infiltration as can be seen in some of the pix. Piston/cylinder clearance miked at .0035"!!! Installed new rings had my tech do a light hone, blast the piston tops and install new valve guides. Cleaned up the valve pockets and re-cut the original valves. Had to rebuild one of the baffles (baffle material from LA Choppers) that had broken and was just flopping around in the muffler. I added some more pix to the album

Drained 1-1/2 quarts out of the sump where it had been keeping the mains, etc., nice and warm for the past 30+/- years

This will be added to what I drained from the oil bottle and goes back into it for the initial start up and heat cycle then out it goes. Deciding on what oil filter I will install. I'm familiar with the Norton spin off as that is what I have on the '72 Tiger. Any other/better suggestions or examples of the bracket set up for the Norton will be appreciated.

TIA

Almost exactly what I did on my T120V about 5 years ago......tucked right in front of rear tire where you have to look for it to see it. And, as all oil filters should be, filter sits upside down so when you change it oil doesn't go everywhere - and you can mostly fill the new one with oil before installing it.......

How about a pic when it's on the bike?

very neat installation - if i understand it you have made the mounting bracket out of 1 inch ali - did you cold bend the section with the frame mount hole ? - i only ask because i have had ali brackets sheer from vibration - i now avoid ali bkts that are holding any weight (unless its 6 mm thick) and particulartly dont cold bend ali any more
just suggesting you keep an eye on it - maybe a safety cable tie around it just in case

--- only saying cos i had my complete (non std) rear light and numberplate assy make a break for freedom the other week - and that was a steel bkt ( now remade in double the thickness)

Cheers Wol,

Thanks for the knowledge!! No I heated the ali angle up a bit with the propane wrench. It's probably 3-4mm. Will keep an eye on for sure but I don't expect any issues......DID I REALLY JUST SAY THAT????!??
