HI,
I wonder if someone could help me out with a long standing problem, I've got a Triumph Thunderbird ' 97, for the last 6 months it seems to be losing coolant at a ridiculous rate, I top the overflow tank up to between the marker lines, after about a 100 miles or so the coolant level has gone down to about an inch off the bottom, there are no leaks that would produce this amount of coolant loss, the engine has been pressure tested for leaks and is fine, I hope you can advice me as to what is going wrong, Cheers.

If you made a change recently, you may have not filled it totally. Air bubbles and pockets form when it's drained so as your filling you need to stop a few times and shake the bike a bit to work the bubbles and air pockets out. If this is not the case and you are simply loosing coolant but you can find no leakage, you may have an internal problem with coolant getting into the jugs thru a crack or bad head gasket. Are you noticing any white smoke especially during high revs? Coolant dosent just dissapear, it has to go somewhere. if it's not leaking from an external source, then it's internal.

Check the hoses and fittings doing INTO the overflow tank.

I was loosing coolant and found that there was a small crack in the elbow going into the tank.
