Land speed racing starts on Saturday so taking guesses on how fast a stock engine 2016 Thruxton R will go.

Stock engine does not mean stock of showroom motorcycle.

Bike has Meerkat x pipe and megaphones, fairing, chin spoiler, sprint pod filters, power Commander , no rear fender, sprocket changes, and required safety equipment.

The engine itself is showroom stock.

I'll be running from Saturday thru Wednesday, so what do you think?

Remember the speed is an average speed over a timed mile, not the highest speed.

I'll let you know who was the closest by August 15TH.

Oh man. What's the over/under?

130 mph is my uneducated guess.

I wish you all the luck and fun in the world. Very much enjoy your posts and videos from the salt!

Some brave projections that are in the 140s.

I've got to be honest this my 5th trip to do this and this one has me little spooked.

A lot of aerodynamics changes that have only be tested to 115 mph. I've been up to about 197 mph before but I knew that bike would work at high speed.

The set up is a little risky with less trail on short wheel base with fairing set more for lift to dance across the salt than provide down force.

My biggest fear with this year's setup is tank slappers.

137.5 mph .

have you done any dyno runs yet ?

special feature : those long taper mufflers are aerodynamically designed to stabilize the rear end and you have lost 3 or 4kgs back there.

Took it over a few days ago for dyno but unfortunately he could not get his dyno to read above 3000 RPM.

He said he talked to dyno jet and he needs some upgrades, I believe he said Winnpeg 8. In any case no dyno results and I'm out of time, loading the bike this afternoon and heading in about 16 hours.

I think you should have guessed higher.

I think this has been asked but is there a speed limiter in the tunes for this bike?
Doug deep in my soul I has still have some doubts on that subject even though Triumph formally provided a written response saying there is not.

According to Brock from Brock's Performance almost all fuel injected bikes for a long time have some sort restrictions that close the throttle bodies at speed or RPM deep in the ECU. He is able disable that function on the Suzuki's and Kawasakis.

Unfortunately for Triumph owners we don't have access to our ECUs.

Time will tell eh.

You did say you will send the winner your fairing?

I can picture it in matte black.

What a guy!!
.

You would probably die in a half hour with this fairing....of course matt black.

I got to use it in one more time in 2021 when a guest rider is coming over to ride with me at Bonneville. Guess who? How about a clue.
