Please enlighten me, oh great Triumph forum.
What is the difference between Thruxton and Scrambler needles?

Is there a performance gain without rejetting?

Or, if done do you have to re-jet?

Current setup on Scrambler; Thunderbike cans, AI removed, snorkel gone and opened up to max., K&N filter.

I'm not sure, but I found it interesting that I THOUGHT I read somewhere...... that the Scrambler needles are kind of a compromise between the old Bonnie needles and the Thruxton needles (?!?).

Thruxton needles richen up the mid-range, offering better throttle response, but some people have reported less fuel efficiency.

But the scrambler is a whole different animal to the Bonneville or the Thruxton because of the different crank and cam. It's apples and oranges. The only way to know if a needle change will help or hinder is to try both and dyno the results. The Speedmaster would be a closer relative to try out as well.

Bung,
I have the same as you. Thunder bike cans,K&N filter,AI gone,Norman Hyde bellmouth.
I found the bike to be very flat until I put a couple of shims under the needles.I put 125 main jets in too.
Big gain in the mid range, lots more torque.
I feel sometimes that it could take a bigger main at wide open throttle.
I also put a 19t front sprocket on.It still pulls hard even 2 up.
It will cruise all day happy at 140kms and pull a ton no probs.
