For anyone having trouble reading my "table" and understanding what I did, here's some verbage to go along with the table of measurements.
First, I measured the overall length of the needles. This measurement together with the "Taper begins" measurement can be used to compare the richness between the Thrux and TBS needles.
Next, I took the three different needles and tried to make some measurements to show how the taper differs between them. I first measured the diameter at the tip (bottom) of the needles. Next, I moved up the needles 0.2" and measured the diameter (listed in the table as Tip-0.2"). I kept doing this until I was out of the taper area(Tip-0.4", Tip-0.6", etc).
Next I measured how far up the needle (from the tip or bottom) the taper begins--that measurement is listed as Tip minus 1.33" for the Thrux needles. The last measurement (diameter of the non-tapered part) is the same for all three needles.
I would recommend purchasing both the Thrux and TBS needles if you are going to dyno your bike after doing mods like removing the airbox. Between the three different needles and some shims, you should be able to get the mid-range spot-on. I couldn't on mine because it is still a little rich with the stock needles; however, it is not rich enough to hurt anything--I still get 50+ mpg and it runs like a scalded cat. :-D Most I have read about say their bonnie is lean in the mid-range with the stock needles, hence the need to try richer needles (TBS and Thrux) and/or shims.
