Like the look of that, GySchmit is also having a go at fabricating a type of hugger which I'm looking forward to seeing.

I haven't yet. Due to loss of employment I've been in Monetary Survival Mode while spending the major of my time trying to find another job for the last 3 months. Not a big local market for an old man with 30 years experience in the Firarms Industry (manufacturing, training, range ops (building, maintenance, decommission), retail sales, etc). I do have a part time gig with the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) as a Range Specialist/OSHA Compliance Consultant but that entails out of State travel a week + at a time doing range inspections.

Now that the weather has cooled down (somewhat) here if Florida I'll be able to work in the garage and fabricate a hugger. I'm also having second thoughts on using fiberglass... looking at Kydex. If it works like I envision it will be quicker and less messy to make and also will be able to do colors.

Hope things turn around for you in the employment stakes Gunny. Haven't heard of Kydex before I'm assuming it's a type of plastic ?

Yes. Comes in sheets of different thicknesses. Easily molded when heated up. Thinking of fabing one up by hand then making a fiberglass mold of that. The i should be able to form heated sheets into that mold. We shall see.

BTW Fify, you will be getting the first (working) one to test seeing my bike is off the road.

Fify,

I had an Epiphany yesterday while cleaning out the garage. Seeing your bike is Black you have 3 options for the fender*...

  1. Matte Black textured
  2. Shiny Black
  3. Black Carbonfiber (pattern)
Which would you prefer?

* IF all goes according to plan. :surprise:

Fity... (and everyone else)

OK, been sitting on making a hugger and am thinking of going in a different direction. I'm pondering making up a plate with Louvers that will go between the frame rails. This could more easily be fabricated to bolt on to the bottom of your tray and than mounting clips at the bottom.

This will do a couple things (IMO)... #1 - Keep tire spray off the engine #3 - Look Hot Roddy and #3 possibly create, somewhat, "high pressure" air zone just behind the carbs allowing them to suck in more "compacted" air (?????????).

Here is a concept on your bike... keep in mind the Plate is inverted in the pic... the Louvers would face the rear allowing air to flow from the engine, through the louvers exiting towards the tire. This is just a concept... I'm thinking a ODD number of louvers rows (1 Large or 3 Small) would look kewl. I would think you fabricater guy could make this up easy. While you loose some of the "see through open frame look" when viewed from an angle front to back from the side it will still look open... and it is RACY!
