yes! my first visit to the" island" was the 1978 manx gp, it did'nt get much better for a 14 year old boy watching racing on roads, drinking beer in the local hotel bar and ogling phil read rep cb750's and cbx1000's.
I could never understand Bazzer. He declared the TT as too dangerous, yet he was perfectly happy to race at Olivers Mount, which was, in my eyes, just as dangerous. I saw him have some epic races against **** Grant. I feel sure that he could have been good on the Island.
Absolutely beautiful riding by the guys but after going to Ireland and watching road races with 4 abreast, turning into the round abouts at 120. I think that type of racing on the village streets will always be my favorite.
