1200SE for sale. 30,000 miles, T reg, number 245 of 250. Very good condition original paint. Has had a bit of coin thrown at it over the years. Part of a collection so hasn't been used much in the last 5 years. I've recently recommissioned it, gone through the carbs, all clean and adjusted. Starts on the button and runs a treat, just needs an owners cleaning touch on it. I've had number 204 for the last 15 years so know them inside out. Priced at £4500. I'm located in Swansea, give me a bell on 07867762513 if yer interested, I can send photos then, regards, Carl.

I own # 142 , purchased in 2018 , from ebay with 3300 original miles , vin check report has the bike sitting at a dealership from 1999 till 2007, 1 owner from 07 till 2017, until I purchased it from a dealer in WI, had it shipped to my state MA , when it arrived , it was far more pristine than even the dealer photos showed, but had issues with the engine running smoothly , over the winter I rebulit the carbs (they were in decent shape) , still ran rough , after some research on this engine model , replaced the coil packs , and its been running like a champ , I've replaced all fluids , filters, new tires. it now has 8000 mi , I just finished its first valve service check , everything within tolerance , i get a lot of complements on this bike , mostly on its condition and its rarity , it has helibars , so the ride is a lot more easy on the wrist , the only non stock item beside the bars , is the staintune stainless steel exhaust cans , I absolutely love this machine , its big , its fast, it surprisingly comfortable, it's not fuel efficient , it'll fry your legs in summer, its not even close to being a sport bike , but that doesn't matter , it brings me joy every time I ride it , its a keeper !!!

The Daytona 1200 Special Edition Registry:

In 1998, a year after going out of production, Triumph re-launched the 1200 Daytona as a limited production run of only 250.

It was in black and gold and had the 6 pot calipers from the Super III. Each one had its own numbered plate on the headstock. The factory told me that one of the badges got damaged and when they ordered a replacement it came in sequence as number 251.

I got mine in August 1998 and I'll keep it forever!

I'd like to start a log to keep track of where they all went and when they were last seen. If you've got one, or you know where one is please help me compile a registry.

Please post below and let me know about it and provide that number!

What we know so far:

No. 001 Originally Triumph's press demonstrator. Updated by hodgy December 2007: Recently seen for sale by hodgy in a salvage yard in Durham, UK.

No. 002 Originally in stock at Ongar Motorcycles in Great Dunmow, Essex, UK in August '98. Current location: Unknown.

No. 003 Believed to have had its first two owners in England, then bought by tritonwow (triumphrat.net) of Hawaii (reported December '07).

No. 003 The first owner was a Brit EXPAT who bought the bike in California. Bought by tritonwow (triumphrat.net) of Hawaii, sight unseen! (reported December '07). Completely stock, apart from aftermarket alarm. Currently has 10,000 miles.

The Union Jack is replaced on the left hand side with a RAT symbol (below the Special Edition decal)

No. 009 Sold by "G-daddy" in Antrim NH, US on TriumphRat.Net around September '07

No. 068 Supplied new in August '98 by Bridge Motorcycles, Exeter UK. Current location: Unknown.

No. 090 Owned by John McAdoo of RT595.net. Bought in Aberdeen during the summer of 2007 with a little over 6,000 miles showing. Had a few previous owners, thought to have originally been supplied in Watford.

Been looking for a a good 1200SE for sometime, in North America, and keep coming up with very sad examples. I know #175 and #189 are in the US, both for sale, both bad examples of these bikes. Wondering is there any good 1200SE selling in NA, or anyone in NA willing to sell their SE? I have several T300 already (1994 Canadian 1200 in Pimento Red, 1995 900 being painted Barracuda Blue, and two immaculate 1996 Super III) but still need a Diablo Black bike, preferably an SE for the collection, hoping to find a good fairly original one. Any leads on one state side I would appreciate.

For reference here are #175 and #189. 175 from a previous owner is a partial respray due to being dropped IIRC, that's why the '1200' decal is wrong and the seat cowl fits kind of poorly, has the wrong cans, turn signals, pegs, windshield, some switches added to the dash, but most problematic is the fairings are scratched up, including the gold decals. 189 on the other hand looks fairly original...except its been painted with a union jack, the wheels are red, and all the gold decals are replaced with regular ones. So both need paint, new gold decals all around (I can only imagine trying to track these down) as well as whatever other work is needed that can't be seen in the photos. They are $6500 and $5000 respectively, which I would pay for a clean original one.

Wow, Chuckleberry, you are certainly a student of the market for this awesome bike. You must have been tracking this model for years since you post a photo of scratches that were on the bike years ago.

I own #175 and take exception to your comments about it. The right side lower fairing had some scratches which have been repaired and the exhaust cans are indeed aftermarket. There are also two switches added to the panel for turning off the headlamp and as an auxiliary.

Otherwise, this bike is original, has been professionally dialed in on a dyno, sports new rubber and a battery and runs as good as it looks which is fantastic.

It's for sale on BikeTrader for serious buyers at $6500 with only 16,500 on the clock.

Are you a serious buyer?

TL:DR - I am the all seeing T300 Daytona nutball, originality is key with these bikes, the market isn't what it used to be. Most importantly, I am not trying to really poopoo 175 as a bad bike, its more of a critique, that its not totally original which is what I, and most other people I see looking for these bikes, want, and that the price is high, that's the reality of it.

I have been keeping a spreadsheet of SE I see for sale anywhere in the world that I have built over the last few years, and I need to go through this thread sometime and update my list with everything from it, as well as update bikes I know I have that haven't been documented here. I keep tabs on really any Daytona 900 and 1200 I see for sale in the US and Canada. I know 175 has been for sale for about a year now and started at ~$9000. ;)

Its not 175 is a bad bike necessarily (and its good to hear the scratches have been repaired), I am sure it runs and rides fine, and for someone that doesn't care what it is, its fine, but so is every Daytona 1200 at that point because that's all they really are. People wanting an special edition usually want it special. Its like Ferrari saying we are going to build only 10 special edition of this model, super rare, very exclusive. And then someone paints theirs a different colour, has Louis Vuitton redo the interior, and fits a custom body kit. I am sure that person loves it, but its literally worth half as much as it would have been if they left it alone. I know all about this with these bikes, one of my Super III has 2k miles, came with the factory tires from 1996 even, its a museum piece, but I never intend to sell that one so it has new tires, aftermarket bars, turn signals, pegs, and seat, all bolt on stuff though, I could take it back original as I have the original parts, but its mine and I like it that way. I still have gotten some shade thrown at me, people don't hesitate to point out whats not correct with it. If I ever did sell it I know I would have to take it back original or be immediately beat up by buyers because people buying thse bikes spot stuff real quick. My other Super III is basically original except front turn signals because a stock snapped so I need to find a replacement set because I am considereing selling it or trying to trade it with some cash for an SE.

I am serious about buying an SE but I am not going to write a blank cheque for one. If this was 5 years ago, I would hand you $6500 for your bike right now. The market has collapsed though. Today if it looked like 246 which recently sold with 9k miles and is a beautiful, original example, I would do $6500. Even 246 there I think only got $5k, would have to ask Alcon how much he got out of it. Several others sold last year for ~$3500 that were more average examples. I want one, but not enough to pay $6500 for it, then a few thousand buying the correct parts to put back on it, plus the time commitment to track down those items down, to be left with a $4500 bike. I mean its your bike and you are allowed to price it however you want, and there is a chance someone pays that, but the only T300 Daytona I think that could actually be worth $6500 in the current market which is low, and heading into a recession (other then anything in Australia) is a 0 miles Super III at a dealership that technically has 0 owners, they kept it as a show piece, it was never actually sold and they roll it out when they have shows in their parking lot. You could buy a brand new Super III in 2023, although I don't think they will sell it, but that's probably the realistic value of it if they did. Best bet if you want more out of, hang on to it for a few more years, prices might pick back up, or list it on Bring A Trailer, people overpay for vehicles on there all the time.
