The Daytona 1200 Special Edition Registry:

In 1998, a year after going out of production, Triumph re-launched the 1200 Daytona as a limited production run of only 250.

It was in black and gold and had the 6 pot calipers from the Super III. Each one had its own numbered plate on the headstock. The factory told me that one of the badges got damaged and when they ordered a replacement it came in sequence as number 251.

I got mine in August 1998 and I'll keep it forever!

I'd like to start a log to keep track of where they all went and when they were last seen. If you've got one, or you know where one is please help me compile a registry.

Please post below and let me know about it and provide that number!

What we know so far:

No. 001 Originally Triumph's press demonstrator. Updated by hodgy December 2007: Recently seen for sale by hodgy in a salvage yard in Durham, UK.

No. 002 Originally in stock at Ongar Motorcycles in Great Dunmow, Essex, UK in August '98. Current location: Unknown.

No. 003 Believed to have had its first two owners in England, then bought by tritonwow (triumphrat.net) of Hawaii (reported December '07).

No. 003 The first owner was a Brit EXPAT who bought the bike in California. Bought by tritonwow (triumphrat.net) of Hawaii, sight unseen! (reported December '07). Completely stock, apart from aftermarket alarm. Currently has 10,000 miles.

I’m afraid I must report the loss of 147 which I managed to write off in May 2018. I have an extensive collection of spares from other sources as a memento of a fine machine.

Hello one and all.
To fill in another gap in this fine endeavour.
133 has been mine from new. It lives with me in NW London (hope to/move away from this filthy dump to the countryside soon) and, although all is well now, we went through a tough time over the last couple of years.
I have been on two wheels since I was 17 in the mid 1970's and 133 It is the only "modern" bike I love. My other ride is a Mk3 Commando and I would not sell either of them.
Unfortunately some lowlife stole 133 from outside the house in October 2019. They video'd themselves doing this and posted it on Instagram with a message saying how clever they were. I reported to the police but, unsurprisingly for this horrible city, they just sent me a text message with a "crime report reference".
I didn't claim on insurance so, the machine was still mine.
In January this year I received a letter from a police pound in SE London demanding approx 200UKP storage charge (increasing daily) and telling me the bike would be "disposed of" if I did not collect it within a week. Needless to say I hooked up my bike trailer and collected it ASAP. Smashed screen (oh boy are the proper tinted ones difficult to find - still looking, hint hint), snapped indicators, some scuffs/cracks in the bodywork and the wiring harness sawn through under the ignition switch (oh yes and the steering lock now bust). Once recommissioned I discovered they had completely burnt out the clutch.
Anyway...... It's back on the road and giving me that joyfull feeling again every day although the bodywork still needs detail work and that screen annoys me.
I will put a couple of pics up this weekend to prove it's mine.
Keep the wheels underneath you and the dead flies on your front teeth all.

Sorry to hear and glad u got it back. I had number 180 (which I sold to a guy in Saskatchewan) and number 169 which was stolen this summer. It was stock except for a scott oiler and grip warmers. So far no news, it seems it's never been re-registered in Canada so it may have been parted out or registered under a different vin which is easy here as they never check.

I know it's an old thread but I've got 3 at my place. I have number 204, I've had it since 2005 when it had 12000 miles on it, now has 30000. Standard apart from Blue Flame exhausts. Just repainted it. It has 3 Cross Motorcycles on the number plate. The other 2 are a T reg which is number 245 reg 01/03/99, it has Chard Autoneeds on the number plate, all standard in my bottom shed and another S reg 01/10/98 which is converted to a street fighter, basically the fairings are off of it with different bars and a tidy up here and there. The edition number for the street fighter I've not put on here as I've just come onto the forum and just joined and the only numbers I recall is the S reg with plate 204 and the T which is 245. Odd that the T is 245 as its newer however has a higher number of the 250 made? Not worked that out as yet! Possibly sat unregistered at the dealers for a while before being registered with the DVLA, the only explanation I can come up with!

Yeh mate. Here's 204. Had to repaint it as the previous owner 15 yrs ago dropped it on its left side. Just never got round to doing it. All good now but a nightmare with Triumph to get correct decals. I've all the part numbers now so any one wants them I can put them on here. The Special Edition is obsolete so I had to have it made bespoke. The Daytona 1200 SE on the tail is not original, made bespoke and easily taken off as its not laqured in. The Blue flames are twin exits. Baffle and cap in pretty normal sound. Baffle in cap out a good rip loud but not really annoying. Baffle out cap out pisses off everyone except bikers. Best sound ever, the Mrs can hear me coming down the hill from the Motorway at night and all the way home. The junction is about 3 miles from my house!

My mate owns the Street fighter and number 245. I have that in my garage, along with one of his Super 3's. He's downsizing bit I'm doing all his recommisioning work. I've also done 2 of his Thunderbird Sports. Ones at Pems Classics the other he's took back to his house. He's got a immaculate triple in black which I did a couple of months back. Was a 98 or 97 if I recall but had more updated motor etc as it was one of the last off production. A lot of the work is carb based as he ain't run them for a few years. I'm not looking forward to tackling the 1200's carbs, their a pain in the ass. The triple engines take 15 or 20 minutes to take off. His Thunderbird Sports are for sale, a 22000 and a 8000 miler. As is his 2 Super 3's, the Triple and SE 245! There's a couple of other bikes can't recall what he has. My other bikes are a customised 78 Suzuki GS1000 American import with spoke wheels and an Aussie import 76 Suzuki GT750 also a bit of customisation on that as well. Big 2 Strokes are the business. It flies!

Here’s another...I recently bought 118 which had been off the road for 20 years. Only 4500 on the clock! It’s got a set of Mikuni RS 38 flat slides on it if anyone’s interested? I have the originals and am going to return it to standard.
I might be interested dependent on price & postage.
I assume they'd just bolt straight on to mine? (Mine need a full rebuild)

Boys and Girls,
Anyone know the standard sizes of the jets for the 1200SE Mikuni carbs pse? The Main, the Pilot, and the Needle (emulsion tube).
Previous owner had the carbs cleaned in around 2004 I had the bike 2005. It was done by a Triumph Dealer in West Wales who are now closed. When I got the bike it had ART nasty looking end cans so I fitted the Blue Flames. When I had it on a dyno it pulled 152 bhp which is 4 over standard but the dyno operator said it was a little lean from about 6500 which is why I need to change the Main jets. He told me to go up 1 so as the jets go for example 130 then 132.5 then 135 etc etc I'd like to know the standard size. The Dealer in Cardiff will just revert to Triumph UK so I am going to see if they can advise. I'm not holding my breath with them as they supplied all the wrong decals to the Dealer I ordered from. They even supplied the front fairing Union Flag from a Daytona 600 the wavy one. I eventually measured the tail flag on my mates 98 Triple and it was the exact same size flag as the SE. Both Triumph and the Dealer told me the SE flag was obselete. But their knowledge should have pointed me to the Triples flag. Hence they are not as good as they think they are or should be.
So any help would be appreciated before I contact Triumph UK. Thanks.

Haven’t got my originals off atm, but I’ve got a re-furb’d set ready to fit with :-
main = 117.5
emulsion tube type = 615-08
pilot = #40
needle clip 3 from top
float level 14.5mm
pilot air screws 2 turns out ( all 4 )

I haven’t run with these carbs so guarantees but should give you a starting point

Also try checking on the other Sport and Touring and Daytona Deliberations sub-folders

Thanks mate for your prompt reply. I didn't realise they were that small. But good to know, I'll see what's in there. I'm playing about with my 78 GS 1000. Had 132.5's in there but since I've put 4 Bell mouths on it high revs aren't doing it for me. I've dropped to 130's but it's still a little chokey so 127.5's are going in next. Got a Harris on it so it's almost straight through! Thanks for the specs!

So the 115 Mains are in and the carbs refurbed. I was going to put a K an N or Pipercross air filter in the airbox however the brass retainers x4 on the outside screws are spinning in the airbox housing. No way of undoing the screws unless I destroy the box. What a **** system, typical Triumph. I'm going to have to buy a new airbox. I can't believe they didn't design a box that was easy to change out without taking off the carbs. I might cut the old one in half and secure the inner sides with a plate so I can change a modified filter easily. Nothings ever simple. I've still got a little bit of a backfire on idle but methinks the carbs and triumphs are always like that. It's always been there. Nothing wrong with the power etc. Attached is a Rolling Road printout from way back. 122 bhp at the back wheel which was when it was standerd apart from the Art cans. Bit down on mph though. Hopefully these 115 Mains will sort it all out!

Hi. Sorry for the late reply. These came set up for the bike and just bolt on. I am having a specialist do the transfer in the third week of April. These carbs are hardly used and work well on the bike as it is. I just want it standard. If you call me I’d be happy to discuss price etc.
Regards
Andy
