Triton
Living in Dorset, UK. I purchased No.246 from the original Owner last year. He bought it new from Len Manchester Ltd in Melton Mowbray on 1st March 1999. However, I checked with the TOMCC who say it is a Jet Black 1200 Daytona completed on 29th June 1998. It has VIN SMTTC354CRX071678 and Engine 071825. It is near immaculate having covered 8,000 miles. Correct Black/Gold scheme and alcon brakes. So, is this actually a 1200SE or made to look like one? Is there another 246 out there??

Thanks for any help or advice. Robert

Wow, after all these years, my thread is still running!

I still own my SE after over 21 years, but she Is finally up for sale with only 7502 miles and after having been dry stored for most of her existence.

Still riding a Triumph, but a much more “sensible” Tiger 1200.

It would be nice if someone from here were to buy her.

can you point me to the site page where you register your Daytona 1200 SE? I picked up #175 a few months ago. Thanks, Paul in Florida

I really wish I could help you there.
When I started this thread (13 years ago) I’d hoped to add all of the new posters into the first post, but the site software stopped me from adding to the first post and I was thwarted
Anyway, I hope that you really enjoy your new SE!

I have a SE 1200 that I have owned since new. Although it is not a Daytona 1200 Special Edition since it is a 1995 I have kept it like new and just love it. I also have it's little brother a Daytona 955i which looks brand new. Not sure which Daytona I like better but the 1200 always gets the attention.

The Daytona 1200 Special Edition Registry:

In 1998, a year after going out of production, Triumph re-launched the 1200 Daytona as a limited production run of only 250.

It was in black and gold and had the 6 pot calipers from the Super III. Each one had its own numbered plate on the headstock. The factory told me that one of the badges got damaged and when they ordered a replacement it came in sequence as number 251.

I got mine in August 1998 and I'll keep it forever!

I'd like to start a log to keep track of where they all went and when they were last seen. If you've got one, or you know where one is please help me compile a registry.

Please post below and let me know about it and provide that number!

What we know so far:

No. 001 Originally Triumph's press demonstrator. Updated by hodgy December 2007: Recently seen for sale by hodgy in a salvage yard in Durham, UK.

No. 002 Originally in stock at Ongar Motorcycles in Great Dunmow, Essex, UK in August '98. Current location: Unknown.

No. 003 Believed to have had its first two owners in England, then bought by tritonwow (triumphrat.net) of Hawaii (reported December '07).

No. 003 The first owner was a Brit EXPAT who bought the bike in California. Bought by tritonwow (triumphrat.net) of Hawaii, sight unseen! (reported December '07). Completely stock, apart from aftermarket alarm. Currently has 10,000 miles.

The Union Jack is replaced on the left hand side with a RAT symbol (below the Special Edition decal)

No. 009 Sold by "G-daddy" in Antrim NH, US on TriumphRat.Net around September '07

No. 068 Supplied new in August '98 by Bridge Motorcycles, Exeter UK. Current location: Unknown.

No. 090 Owned by John McAdoo of RT595.net. Bought in Aberdeen during the summer of 2007 with a little over 6,000 miles showing. Had a few previous owners, thought to have originally been supplied in Watford.

No. 131 Belongs to vfr99999 of triumphrat.net as of 12/07. Westhampton ma. "10k, nice original bike, except for the bits that wear out!"

No. 132 Allen McLeod (Hamitlton, New Zealand) imported from USA in January '07

No. 150 Sandy (South Wales, UK) fitted the engine from this Daytona SE to a mate's Thunderbird Sport January '07!

Hi, All,
Came across this site and thought I would add an entry Although does seem to be a tad out of date lol.
I have number 248 had it since 2000 purchased from Triumph dealer in Plumstead SE London, currently with 54k on the clock.
I can also confirm that we have number 250 In pristine condition owned by my Dad.

These bikes have been all over Europe with trips to Corfu and back included.

Have attached a pic of the 'Twins' to this day we have never seen another 1200SE on the road.

All the best

Neil.

Okay, so it’s not an SE, but I did own one for 21 years (and start the thread!), so I feel I can get away with posting a photo of the newly powder coated rear wheel on my current Trophy 1200 triple 😁
I missed my gold wheels and I had to make the new bike “my own”!

The badges are going to be in gold vinyl too, but the colour’s going to be Candy Ruby Red.
