Riding through out Texas this last eleven months we saw maybe 5,000 total bikes on the road. Yes, a very hot year and flat, lifeless roads but this morning I-45 south of Houston had thousands of bikes, all shapes, sizes, makes and models south bound to Galveston Island for the Rally. But, surprisingly I saw hundreds of bikers north bound as well and whilst getting gas I asked a couple if they had been to the island and decided to leave. Nope they said "we are natives of the island and can't stand the pretenders and their bullsh*t". Guess that means there is not as much biker brotherly love as I thought.:D

Well, at least everyone's getting a ride in for the day.
The Galveston Island residents sound a bit smug to me- or maybe they've rented their houses for the weekend to the "pretenders"?
:p

If you check out "pie runs" you will find Texas bikers of all stripes who know a lot of back roads. It is not a rally but just a get together at a diner for pie, or lunch. Groups gather in outlying areas and ride to the meeting spot. Lots of fun.
