hi, i recently bought a thunderbird sport and i'm getting quite a lot of popping on the overrun when i decelerate. i love the sound but just wondered if it's normal? and what causes it?

It is pretty much a characteristic, but can be made worse if there are any leaks on the exhaust.

Check for leaks and if you keep the throttle slightly off the stop you will minimise it.

It usually starts when someone starts tinkering.

It can be tweaked but not eliminated.

it's quite common as mentioned above... I believe it is a result of un-burned fuel igniting in the exhaust, but I'm sure someone else can give a more scientific explanation.

There are some other threads on this subject with some pretty in depth explanations. Do a search and you should be able to find them. I remember Jimmyj as being one of the main contributors.
