My 54 T100 is in need of an overhaul, which it will get soon. After a short ride the other day I had oil all over my ankle and I discovered that the forward tappet guide block was oscillating
and that oil was bubbling up around its edges. The set screw is tight. This is suppose to be a press fit. Has anyone had this problem? Will I have to rework the hole in the alloy barrels along with a new guide block or is there some kind of compound I can use to seal this up. :???:

It's a tight press fit, and IMHO you really should have the special tool to do it properly. There is an o-ring seal around the tappet block. Whatever you do, don't do any honing or reaming of the hole in the cylinder base, or you'll be forever trying to fix the leak. If the hole is badly worn, you can either try to get new cylinders (hard and expensive), or get the hole professionally rounded and new block made of phospor bronze or similar. If it's just the tappet block worn, get a new one, making sure you get the new o-ring as well. If you're wanting to do it right, buy the special tool to get them in/out.

Boy, howdy! I can't see how you could possibly wear out a guide block in the cylinder bore.

Being that it's "held captive", sandwiched between the head & crankcase, I don't know how on earth it could even be loose.

Something's going on, that's not good...

At a minimum, your going to need to pull the entire top end off and see what is really what.

if the alloy cylinder hole is too large i think that ozbloke is right!!you must have a new oversized tappetblock machined!expensive but less than a newalloy cylinder.

Fixing the damage is one thing, but WHAT CAUSED IT???

Get a new tappet block and clean it and the bore thoroughly and then set it in place with Loctite Stud and Bearing Mount....the green stuff. It will take up 2-3 thou of clearance. Try a bearing supply house. Let it set up for a day or two before reinstalling the cylinder assy.
