Ive got a mini tach id like to install on my 650 (1970 model). it has two wires, one green, one red. a buddy gave it to me. it was new /used. anyway, Im not a real pro with aftermarket gauge connections, does anyone here know how to hook these up?(i know at least one of the wires goes to the coil)but is the positive ground going to be an issue? I have a general idea but dont want to fry anything. the bikes electrical is a TR6R

tr6tom,

I think the positive ground is going to be an issue, as most
electrical tachometers are a sweep magnitic feild type.
I would ask though who made the tachometer? Did it
originally need a sender? Were the senders matched to the
type of system? ie as the number of cylinders and if it was
a two stroke or four stroke system. Or is this tachometer
supose to be a plug and play?

In the end it is just easier to run a cable tachometer like the
factory if it is at all possible.

Tach drives for a 70 model 650 Triumph are easy to come by, too ... Heck ... I have one sitting in my garage ... it might leak a bit, though ...
